So here we go again. Yet another pointless project thread from eddy_gti6 Thumbs down

So the berlingo van has gone and i bought a 206 GTi (not the 180) Since i bought a few shiny bits for the van when i fitted the D.Turbo engine and no longer had the van i decided i was going to do a cheap Budget turbo build on the 206.
I know what your all thinking... Doh what a bellend!

After going to see a friend to make me a turbo manifold for the 206 he gave me a good price but meant i would have to leave him the car for a couple of days what really wasnt an option as i need it for work. Sitting in the corner of his unit was 3 very very dust 205 gti's what i thought was just crap kept there for storage ect...
Anyway a couple of days later he text me asking if i wanted to buy the graphite grey 205 rolling shell. 'spec?'

Limited edition with full leathers
green carpets
recon rear beam
Full seam welded engine bay
seam welded subframe all modified and ready to fit a gti6 engine
very clean shell with no rust.

Hmm i went down for a look and yes it was a very tidy car. and for the price he offered it to me at was very tempting. BUT... Whats the crack with the white 205 Jim? 'thats mine' near minted shell but no log book or interior but has an 8v turbo engine sitting in the hole on the mounts but no wiring, no shafts, no interior. Ahh no problem, wouldnt have minded that white one Cool

So on Wednesday i got a text. MAKE ME AN OFFER ON THE WHITE 205!

£275?

£300 and its yours chris, i will even throw in a few extra parts too Big grin BOOM dont mind if i do!

So tomorrow or early next week i will be picking it up and bringing it home. Plans:

Pull the engine out
Tidy up the little buts there rust has started showing though the paint (shell is solid, no holes)
Spray engine bay and interior
Rebuild engine and fit all my shiny bits, It has the rare flat top pistons 8:1 compression
maybe buy a cage and bucket seats
Tidy exterior

Thats all my plans for the time being. anyway here is the only pics i have

Both white and grey ones are sun roof models.

As for the water, nothing its just the long working hours and high altitude i think?

Looking forward to the progress. What's the plans with the 205 then? Track or just a road car?

Sounds like you had it for a good price especially with the extra goodies. I'll be watching this thread with interest.

It's hard to tell in the pics as it's so dirty but I would imagine that Grey one is actually Steel Grey if it has the full leathers and Green carpet. Also to my knowledge no Graphite's were 'limited edition' where as the Steel Grey's were. They are pretty rare In Steel these days and worth quite a lot if all nice and tidy.

Im not really interested in the grey one but it is a tidy car. Been dry stored for around 3 years and the white one around 4 years. More than likely be a track weekend fun car as its already stripped and heaters ect pulled out. Grey one might be worth looking into getting as well maybe and just sticking an engine in to sell on.

If I can get the car tomorrow I will get a few better pics. Car needs a good clean the with all the years of dust on it.

If you could get the grey one for the right price you'd definitely make some good money sorting it and selling on if It's tidy.

A lot of people don't rate the 8v turbos but I had one that was pretty standard and it didn't half shift. A bigger turbo so it doesn't run out of puff and a better cam to help it rev and I think you could make one into a beast personally.

I will be running a TD03 T13 turbo off an impreza wrx, seem to be quite a popular turbo to use on most cars as they spool up pretty quick with little lag. When time comes for an upgrade i can swap it for a vf35 whats an upgrade from the td04 and good for around 350bhp. I dont think standard internals could cope with that tho.
A lot of people say to use the 205 1.9 gti cam as it has more lift and duration than the standard turbo cam. Also the 1.9 cam only has overlap on the inlet side so wont dump all the boost straight out the exhaust valves. Also read somewhere the 8v xsi cam is good to use.

Picked the 205 up yesterday ad brought it home. What have i let myself in for? Just put it in my back yard for the time being. Made a start on it removed the front bumper and get the wire brush disc on the grinder and set away removing all the surface rust. Going to try get the engine out this week so i can get to the rest of the engine bay and get it ready to paint for the weekend.

Did i say it was a non sunroof did i? Did i not say he has a non sunroof skin there if i wanted it? No decided on the white one as thats the one i wanted and i like the white ones. Bit dark outside now but just got a couple of quick pics there. there is 1 small hole in the O/S chassis leg, thats all i have found but thats only there as it had something screwed through it and when i took it off there was a hole but that will get sorted before i spray the bay up. Going to go around all the edges where the panels beet with K seal ect... as well for a bit extra protection. Once the engine bay is done i will make a start on the engine and maybe interior too but there is a load of crap in the car i need to go through to find out whats good and whats not.
