Hi I know there is plenty of induction kit info on here and have been reading a lot of it so have decided to go with a k@n kit... was just browsing and seen this one on ebay that looks in great used condition but was fitted on an 1800 306 cabby.. anyone know if this will fit a rallye/gti6 engine

Thanks

ChrisThumbs up

Doesn't really specify what's included in the pack, but the filter is essentially the same as any old cone filter, mine cost me like £9 off Amazon and sounds epic.

Assuming the rest is piping but again it doesn't specify what routing it uses or if its a cold air feed or not.

Best off contacting the seller but from what I can see it doesn't look like any 6/rallye induction I've seen, maybe for a lower spec 306 I would imagine

Yea that's what I thought the cone looks right but not sure about the rest.. I asked seller who just replied that it came off his 1800 306 cabby...

I had a 1.8 before the 6. The throttle body is in a similar position iirc but there will be less room for piping in the 6 engine bay so bare that in mind.

You could risk it by winning the bid but I would be careful how much you spend on it as it may turn out to be useless!

Ok sound advice mate cheers... I know my last Rallye the filter was very low to the ground and there wasn't much room when i tried to change the cone, when I did finally get it off I realised it had been wore away from friction from rubbing off hyd pipes and maybe even burned slightly... Maybe look at viper kit seems to be a neater fit

I'd ask what the diameter is for the filter, iirc it wants to be 76mm so it will suit the gti6 throttle body.

Yep, 76mm for the GTi-6 throttle body. Yes

Thanks guys really appreciate the help... Smile

I sent him a message again asking for diameters of the filter and pipe work if I don't get any where this time ill just let it go.... Was looking on amazon and k&n website there seems to be a kit for the 306 xsi 2.0 16v 132 bhp but not the gti6 unless this one fits all 2.0lt 16v engines... Any way I will leave it for now and do some more research at a later date

Cheers

Chris

go for an genricenclosed filter and some ducting from ebay. as cheap as you can get it. and make sure your not sucking up warm engine bay air. and yeah it is a 76m one youll need

mines poking out where my fog used to be. i think this amplifies the gorgeous noise it for the people in front.

I've got a GTI-6 one somewhere I took off the Rallye and I replaced it with an original air box. Made a nice noise but sucking water in wasn't my idea of fun. It does rain a lot here in England. Silly increase in insurance premium through adding boy racer factor didn't justify an extra 1 or 2 bhp either.

They sound great no doubt not sure how much extra they add on to insurance prob an extra £20 or so I would imagine but worth it for the nice sound, I'm not a boy race by any means but I love the roar of the lion ha ha Smile happy days .....

We have the odd puddle or two in the North of Ireland as well, for about 10 months of the year it seems lol and after that good summer we just had its easy to want to forget that it's back to rain sleet and snow and your right the Rallye doesn't really need a giant straw to be drinking that up, not much room in the engine bay meant my last Rallye the cone was nearly tripping the ground....

Induction kits are a complete waste of time unless you spend big money on a DTA but even then i bet just a replacement panel filter would be just as good if not better.

Similar to what Matt said above... Not that I know this myself but previously when I was asking a similar question I was advised not to bother as the set up in a 6 is already at the optimum to get the best performance.

The only recommendation I was given was to modify the snorkle a little i.e. cut a bit of a triangle in it.

£20? Guess again. One quote was nearly £200 extra - yes, for an air filter. I've gone to a specialist insurer now I've got a VTS rack and strut brace.

Cone filters might generate more air flow but since that air will be hot unless shielding is put in place, due to the increase in intake temps there will be a reduction in power - the effect is that of a reverse intercooler.

£200 that's mad my last insurance was £340 with magnex exhaust and a k&n induction kit added as extras.... Although I also for a laugh got a quote from that one on the tele confused dot con and they quoted cheapest no lie £10000 ha ha that was for a transplanted engine, mag exhaust and induction kit ha ha think they confused with a car and the titanic

As for the hot air flow yea I read about that the other day some guy had made what looked like some part from a NASA space shuttle to feed cold air from both sides of the front bumper to the rear upper of the engine where the cone filter was... Worked great but was a mad project aliminuim foil everywhere Smile
