What's going on?

There's no craic on here at all, a fair few VERY helpful members have been alienated and have moved on.

I know its only a forum and I've only met two members but its a very useful place and the craic was always good.

I'm pretty disappointed. Other than the odd post and the FAQ - most of which can be found elsewhere... why are we still here? The money doesn't bother me but the community aspect has gone

The only proper community spirit is with the Maidstone boys, perhaps we should all arrange more local meets? Might spark some more interest.

I think a lot of people are ending up on 306oc these days. And why shouldn't they? If I had just bought a 306 I'd want to be where the most activity was regardless of what model I had.

The only reason I stay here is because Im very fond of a few members, and I like the level of knowledge and humour that they display. If I was new and didn't know anyone I'd be indifferent.

Has the site really reached the level that body kits and smokey diesels is the leading forum now. I think its the fact that the cars have gotten so cheap no2 there's a lesser feeling of pride in owning one now other than a minter or fantastic project car. I know I wont be buying a 6 for quite a while now after finally selling my last one. 5he craic has definitely dropped off but I cant say its because welsh pugs not a member anymore as hes a plonker anyway. Its thae fact that most people have moved onto clios and meganes and ctrs and nicer machines. Just my opinion.

Agree with your first statement there. When I first signed up a few years back there were quite a few members local to Sheffield who pointed me to some useful garages and I know they used to meet at a local pub. Seems like you say that the only groups now are down south.

Hopefully I will get to one of the meets sometime despite there not being any/ many locally to Sheffield... But who knows..

Who cares about how active meets are, its not the amount, its the quality of the meet that matters IME, its the forum this topic is about.

With meets comes forum interest, with interest comes threads and posts, with threads and posts comes activity bringing new members to the club.

Besides, It was merely a suggestion. Got any yourself?

I just logged on to 306OC and to be fair it seems that forum has also gone past its glory days. something silly like back in 2008 they had a couple of hundred users on line.. Now just a small handful.

Im guessing its probably a mixture of what was said above with people moving on to newer cars as well as the cars getting rarer as more are written off. For a lot of them if they were not a key/ active member of the forum when they had the car they aint gonne be active once they are 6/ Rallye less.

One thing I will say about this forum is that there is usually always people online at any time of the day including the middle of the night. Some larger forums have very few people online outside of daylight hours.

A forum is obviously nothing without members posting.

Deciding not to bother updating a project thread because you only got a few replies makes it even worse by speeding up it's demise.

As the cars get older less people will own them. When I first joined 5 freinds owned 6's now only me and one other freind own them. I still like the forum and the banter, have got very helpful info off here over the years. I hope that people will stick around as long as possible

Some may remember when Pete got killed there was about 173 members online at once like it says on the home page. No way could that ever be repeated now 5 years on.
