when my VSS was on its way out on my 6 and also my HDI, the second the VSS died (speedo dropped off) on the motorway i could feel the car change, so the engine was obviously relying on it rather than it being just for the gauge so out of the your things i'd say the VSS made the difference

I think either the replacement VSS has another fault or there is just a lose connection or something as every now and again the speedo shoots all the way to the top then back down to 0. Only when idling though.

But yeh my thoughts was the VSS, its cured the cutouts I was having and increased my economy. Not bad for a £20 part Smile

i get that on my HDI but it's low voltage from the battery. it doesn't do it when running

ahhh mine does it every now and again whilst running. just the odd shoot to the top. Doesnt do it whilst in motion just when still...
