I went to my mums today and she gave me a letter that came ages ago (last November). I opened it and its a NIP for speeding, 73 in a 60 by a manned camera. This is all very well but I sold this car over 4 years ago so why would a NIP come to me after this long? Do you think the current owner has filled my details in on the form and sent it off? I guess he/she would have my details from the front of the V5 if its been the same owner since I got rid of it.

Luckily I still have the DVLA letter stating I'm no longer the owner and also the receipt for when I traded it in. But surely the police would know from their records that I don't own it. To say I'm p**sed off is an understatement but I should be able to clear it up when I ring them tomorrow. Funny how a court summons never appeared in the months following the letter though Dunno

The police would of put your reg into their database and just sent it off to the registered owner so as you said, its possible that the new owner is just trying his luck. Regardless of the fact you can prove you dont own the car, they may ask you to prove you were not driving which could be slightly more difficult.

It says on the letter they have camera evidence of the driver. It says a "manned" camera so it should be a picture of the front of the car. Fingers crossed the driver doesn't look like me LOL anyway if its a weekday I have daily work diaries to prove where I was on that date.

Ah in which case your fine!
When i got my points, they were not in my car so the letter didnt go to me. That was a forward facing van at the side of the road and the photo was surprisingly clear as day of me in the driving seat racing a porsche lol

Mine was a 9-5 aero stage 1 (proper Hirsch stage 1. There was some right dodgy maps floating about at one point!). That thing was bloody quick but because it was so big, you just didnt realise until you looked down and realised its still pulling past silly speeds lol

Not to mention this was in Loxbeare, Devon (wherever that is). Bit far from where I live.

Yeah I had an Internet map job but it was actually quite good. The 9-5 was 230bhp standard wasn't it?

Wasn't a lot of Vauxhall in those cars at all. They changed almost everything on it.

The MY2000 was. After 2002, it was 240 and after 2005, it was 250. Mine was on about 255 but had no proof as it was never RR'd
Mine was an ex dealer demonstrator from when the Aero 95 first came out. My old boss bought it from them with 3k on it and just when i got rid, he gave me the original invoice. They charged him for the hirsch remap despite the fact it had been on there from mine 1 lol.

Well I'm still going to ring them tomorrow to clear this up. I need to know what's going on and if it is the current owners fault then they can send it back to him.

I traded it in at a dealership so god only knows where it ended up. I still have the receipt to prove this.

The form you got when the letter fill the part saying you don't own the vehicle then just photo copy the dvla part and receipt selling it on and you'll be fine. Sometimes this can happen through one thing or another but I shouldn't worry.

I had a speeding ticket from Scotland about 3 moths after getting rid of my dodgy Clio. Quick call to the DVLA and managed to get a letter out of them confirming the date I had returned the car which I could send to the police.

No idea how it is that the DVLA knew that I didn't own the car and yet didn't know who was the new owner. Clearly the police will send it to the last known keeper in that case.

Or possibly trying their luck to get some money out of someone knowing the last owner isn't the current owner, praying on the vulnerable.
