I bought an oil cooler kit from jjc few months ago with a thermostatic sandwich plate
http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/oval/oil-cooler-kits/jjc-oil-cooler-kits-with-free-oil-filter
I fitted it to my project few months ago and I've only just tried running the car up to temperature tonight. Had a small but steady leak coming from that area. Wondering if anyone else has fitted this cooler kit?
Tomorrow night when I get chance i'll have a proper look but i'm sure when I was fitting it I thought it looked floored. It was a few months ago but i'm sure when I tried to tighten the nut up to tighten the sandwich plate in place, it was down in a recess so you couldn't get a socket in very well. Just wondered if anyone else had had trouble with the same kit before I get chance to look at it?

It probably requires a new seal or you didn't tighten it correctly. Yes

Does this leak when the engine is running?

I had an issue with mine whereby it wouldn't leak at all when it was running but once you switched it off it would leak a couple of drops. Sad
Is yours like this or not?

All these aftermarket units dont have any locating peg so it may well be that the plate moved when the filter last came off.

What do you mean by 'locating peg'?

exactly that, a peg to locate its orientation.
