My rallye has developed a miss fire where it revs clearly without being in gear but as soon as under load it splutters and kangaroos. Car will stall if coasting. Anyone had similar?? starts fine and will run for minutes with no problems but will stall after 5 or 6 minutes or really struggle if driven. Am thinking fuel pump,relay or tps... have all as spares 10 miles away. Any other suggestions???

unplug the lambda, see what happens.

if it was the relay it wouldn't run at all.

No difference with lambda disconnected.

It sounds like a fuel starvation issue, you should check the fuel pump. Yes

Changed pump no difference. Only spare I don't have is a map sensor... so stuck in north wales...how do you test map sensor. Found a great video but no explanation on youtube..

Disconnected map sensor and car runs exactly the same so does female logic mean its that???

Anyone know how to test map sensor. Cleaned it out with wd ran better for two miles then problem came back ..

Now cleaned it out with carb cleaner and runs like a complete bag of crap.

If you disconnect the MAP sensor whilst the engine is idling it should stall or try to. The fact yours doesn't points to that sensor being the issue.
This would also go along with the fact that the engine doesn't want to rev under load and this could easily be down to the MAP sensor. Yes

Yep. Its my deduction. Got two spare map sensors and neither fit. Mines a late phase 2.5 3 by tgd looks. Any one in north wales got a phase 3 sensor???

    Taa dan. Am soaking it in carb spray and will refit in the morning before she goes home on a aa can in the morning. I have one in coventry but not here.

    Replacement map sensor has cured the problem. I pretty much called it straight off but wasnt sure. Thanks wp and stan for confirming my thoughts and being at the end of a thread whilst I was at the side of the road. Thanks cos kev fir reminding me of gwyn rallye.... and most of all thanks to gwyn rallye for responding so quickly and generously. Top bloke. Thanks all. I can now join the caravanners going home at 20mph.
