Having been bitten by the racing bug, I’ve traded up to a Clio Cup car – so sadly its time for my own track day toy to find a new home.

I bought it back in 2010 as a standard road car, having decided to move on from my old 106 Rallye track car and wanting something bigger with a bit more power. And the Rallye hasn’t disappointed; over the last few years it’s developed into an amazing circuit car, although personal circumstances have meant it’s not had anywhere near as much use as I hoped (3 trackdays and one 'Ring trip)

That said, other than adding a bit of boost I can’t think of anything else I’d do mechanically to improve it. I did briefly consider racing it, and after looking into it all it would need to pass MSA scrutineering is a battery isolator and mechanical fire-extinguisher – probably £500 worth

As you’d expect for a car of its age and life, there are a few cosmetic points that need tidying up to make it “show” condition; a couple of small dings around the car and a crack in the front bumper. Also, when I first bought it the HPI check revealed it’s got a Cat D on record, but I can’t see any damage as a result and have certainly no issues insuring or running it.

The car is still fully road legal and will be sold with a full 12 months MOT and 6 months tax.

I’m located up in York and viewings would be welcomed. I’ve uploaded some photos below, but conscious there are none of the inside. I’ll take some as soon as possible, but contact me if you want to see anything specific.

Engine:

Standard XU10J4RS engine on 120,000 miles
Fully serviced with recent cambelt change (<10000 miles ago)
Alloy crankshaft pulley
Ramair foam cone filter
Solid Peugeot Sport bottom mount, Vibra Technics top and gearbox mounts
Group N Peugeot Sport exhaust
Devil decat (standard cat supplied)

Gearbox:

Standard 6-speed gearbox
OE clutch replaced <10000 miles ago
Quaife ATB limited slip differential
Kam Racing gear linkages

Steering & suspension:

Xsara VTS quick steering rack (with GTi6 ram giving 2.1 turns lock-to-lock)
KW V2 2-way adjustable coilover kit, lowered about 30mm front and rear
Spoox adjustable top mounts, running a few degrees of camber and caster
Roller bearing wishbones (from Rich W) – regularly lubricated
Droplinks and lower balljoints – replaced 1000 miles ago (for previous MoT)
Fully rebuilt rear beam with 25mm Peugeot Sport torsion bars and 30mm hybrid anti-roll bar
Pug Racing solid rear beam mounts

Brakes:

Hi-Spec 4 pot calipers (serviced with new seals a couple of years ago)
285mm vented and grooved discs
Carbone Lorraine RC6 pads – possibly best brakepads I’ve ever used
247mm solid rear discs
Braided hoses all around

Wheels:

Road wheels: 15” Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s with Toyo Proxes T1Rs – virtually new
Track wheels: 15” Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s with Toyo Proxes R888 – 3mm+ tread

Interior:

Custom Cages fully welded Challenge cage
Welded in seat rails and harness mount points
Resprayed interior (Bianca white)
Sparco Pro ADV fibreglass seats in black
Sabelt 6-point aircraft style 3” harnesses in red (still in date)
Sparco 330SN suede wheel
FIA quick release steering boss
TAZ quickshift alloy gear selector
Handheld Fire extinguisher

Spares:

For the right deal also have plenty of spares – way too many to list!

Contact details: 07971 157667
Asking price: £4,000

Thanks for looking guys, Kev

Sorry for the delay, uploaded a few interior close-up photos too.

I probably just say these are pretty honest photos. I didnt spend too long cleaning before taking them so a lot of the scuffs you can see on the cage, floor etc are just general dirt and rubber marks from transporting tyres!

EDIT: Also, ignore the picture of the steering wheel that's on the car - it's only a temporary one!

Tempted but need to shift my road 306 rallye first. Still wish I had the money for your 106 a few years back.

Do you have the cage certificate and are any of the brake and fuel lines inside the car??
Seat dates??

Well all I can say is the 306 is even better than the 106 was!

To answer your questions:

  • it's running standard brake and fuel lines
  • both seats and harnesses were brand new when I put them in the car (and cost me £1200+) so are dated Sept 10 and have plenty of life left on them (although not important for MSA events anyway)
  • yes, i'm sure I have the cage cert somewhere

Anyone that might be interested in Kevs old 106, it could be sold for the right offer. My mates still got it.

Hi Kev, i couldnt afford many track days last year so I was thinking about selling it and getting a fast road/track car that does it all but I think once you've had a fully stripped and track focused car like the 106 it's hard to compromise!

I've done a few things with it:
    - fitted Mocal thermostatic oil cooler
    - de rusted and re painted underside and rear arches
    - wax oiled chassis box sections
    - fitted recon superleggera road wheels
    - C5 'steel' track wheels
    - gearbox rebuild

Other than that just maintained it, driven it an loved it!
