Hi Guys,

I know this has been covered a lot, but I have a few questions etc so thought it might be easier to just start a new thread.

For some reason, my engine fans have decided that they dont want to come on. They were fine a month or so ago, and now not working. Since they were last working, the car has been off the road having ABS removed, battery relocation and rear beam change.

Now, if I had upset a wire while doing my battery relocation etc, would this mean they still wouldnt work when unplugging the brown sensor?

If I do unplug that brown plug, the low speed fan comes on, then a couple of seconds later the high speed one comes in. I dont know how good this is for a workaround, but I'm pretty sure the high speed one doesnt stay on (is this normal?) as when using the car, the temp is up and down. If sat in town etc, will rise to over 90, then back down to about 80-90 which is still higher than normal operating temps before the fans had an issue.

Due to the water temps getting higher than normal, this means the oil gets warmer than it usually does (and I dont have my oil cooler fitted Doh)

Where do I start with this? Is it ok to just leave the brown plug unplugged?

I dont use the car that much, but have Pugfest rapidly approaching so could do with getting it sorted really.

Main question I have, is what could be broken so fans dont come on when they should? As to me it seems that fans, wiring, relays etc should be fine if fans are able to operate with brown plug removed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Smile

Thanks chaps x

I asked my parts guy to get one (as this seemed most likely cause) and he said there is a few of them, and apparently saying "the brown fan switch one" isnt enough Laugh

Anyone got a part number?

Also if I were you mate I'd bridge the contacts in the AC pressure switch to make the fans come on full chat when you switch the AC button on.

It's the 4 pin brown plug on the sensor behind the drivers headlight.

Bridge pins 1&2 with a paper clip for them to come on low speed and 1&3 for high speed iirc.
