Hi all,

I'm mocking up a few bits to mount some throttle bodies on my motor and have Wayne at Chip Wizards map it all on the stock ECU.

I'm now aware of the fact we don't need the MAP or ICV, so that opens up a lot of options with bodies to use as I can rip those out and get Wayne to map it without.

Question is - what size would you go for? Common seems to be 45mm or 48mm?

Any ideas?

JP

48s too big?

What about runner length? or can I tune it with trumpets?

45's fine for your engine Thumbs up

total tract length you want around 380 mm iirc, better to get a Satchell inlet and adjust the trumpet lengths afterwards, I do believe sandy had better results with a straighter tighter radius trumpet too not the off the shelf Jenveys.

or are you making your own bike body inlet?

That's the idea... Can't justify the eye watering price of the jenveys!

There was a satchell set on here for sale but the guy hasn't got back to me annoyingly!

Jenveys aren't that much Unsure £380 for the set I bought, but there's the rail, inlet and trumpets on top of that of course Doh

Drop Baz a PM on here https://www.facebook.com/BluprintAutosport

if you know someone who can tig and machine for you cheaply then doing the bike body thing will be a fair bit cheaper, bit of flat plate welded on the end of a cut down std manifold with stepped holes and the ITB's clamped down securely is the way to do it.

That Baz guy is the one who had the Satchell ones for sale, sent a bunch of messages... no reply Sad

What are typical power gains with a set of bodies on?

Around 15bhp, much more available with cams to go with them. Yes

With the Satchell inlet its a fair bit more gain than the bolt on Jenvey manifold, to crack 200 you will need more duration of course.

Interesting stuff mate, thanks. Pricey though! I'd imagine a lot of that is ECU and mapping however, which I don't need!

indeed it would be, and loom making, I was more highlighting the higher gains over the Jenvey manifold.

I think I'm in at about £1200 so far as I've made my own loom and got an ecu second hand but unused, but the rest is new.

So using the stock ECU and thus the stock loom, which is my plan, will alleviate those costs. What do you reckon the bodies / mani etc have cost you?

Std 6 engine you see around a 7bhp increase with the old Jenvey set up, use the long inlet manifold and you can get around the 185 mark, shows you how compromised the Jenvey one is
