Well , drove the car out of the barn today... let it run for a few mins... then tried to back it up back into the barn..

When i put the car in reverse and let the clutch come up... it feels and sounds like my gearbox is wanting to explode..... feels like its not totally in gear.

it moves backwards for a bit, but i have to put it in neutral.. it just feels really bad... any one any ideas?

forward movement in gear is fine!

paddle clutch?

reverse is a straight cut set of gears so it will be more noisy.

does the car actually move when you do this? it may be something rubbing on the chassis and the movement you get only in reverse causes it.

Yes paddle clutch....

noisy i can life with, but there is certainly something wrong.

Clutch etc is brandnew..

when put in reverse and let the clutch come, the car wants to reverse, but what comes next just scares the tits of me, very hard judders, and it really feels like its destroying the gearbox

ive tried with minimum throttle and a bit more throttle, makes no difference

Welsh did you get my pm, could the longer small bolt cause something like this? i think the chance is small but you never know

thx guys

Did it make any similar noise in any other gear?

You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time

I'd say gearbox is fine, the way you could find out for sure is by jacking the entire front up and track the noise whilst the car is in reverse?
Obviously making sure the car will go nowhere

Uhmm no not really, linkages are clear, just bij a few mm, so that shouldnt be the problem.. goes also fully into reverse when we engage.

We discoverd that the frontwheels werent turning quite free, the pins from the calipers where the padds rest upon, are to close to the disc, so there needs to be trimmed a few mms

I think that when the car pushes itselfs theres no problem, but in reverse it has to pull... along with the frontwheels not turning free, lies the most of the problem

so removed the calipers and tried again, its still there, but can also be the car not running good etc, overfueling, some missfiring etc...

so ill have it mapped and then well have a look.

luckily i dont need the reverse that much Wink
