Hey guys just wondered if you could give me some advice on an annoying squeek my cars got. And for the record im posting here instead of technical because its not on a gti6 so dont feel it should be in there, however you have always had great advice on all cars so this is the first place i thought to come for this.

Its the off side front wheel has an annoying high pitch squeek when moving at low speeds (under 20mph), it doesnt do it when cold, only after about 10mins driving, and its not under braking or turning, just rolling straight (normally up my home street). Im thinking something like wheel bearing or driveshaft related? What do you guys think and how soon do i need to get it sorted? Ie, could i leaveit a few months without risking major issues.

Thanks for any help on this.

sounds like a wheel bearing starting to play up.

Either that or you have a chaffinch in the glovebox

It does sound like a wheel bearing to be honest.

If it was a wheel bearing I'm pretty sure there would be a little of play if you jack it up give the wheel a wobble.

wheel bearings don't always develop play, I've changed both rears on my mondeo, they sounded dreadful but had no play, now I'm doing the front ones this weekend, they sound really dreadful, actially sounds like 1 has totally collapsed but again no play in them.

Whip the wheel off and check the brakes etc, could be something stuck between caliper/backing plate and discThumbs up
Could even be pads nearly knackered?Dunno
While the wheel is off if the pads are ok whip them out and check there's nowt trapped and re-copper grease themThumbs up

The brake pads look ok from a quick inspection through the wheel

generally they do make a squeak noise while rolling slowly and seem to bind slightly when pads are low

jack the car up and turn the wheels by hand while listening for noise from wheel bearings.
