Hi guys

I'm painting my block and cylinder head tomorrow using this halford high temp paint



Just checking it will do the job it feels and sounds very watery and thin.

Any suggestions

It will thicken up when it's stirred, the solvent has probably separated from the pigment that's all.
I used hammerite smooth on mine and others and it holds up well if suitably degreased first. Blocks don't actually get that super hot anyway so heat isn't a huge concern.

Epoxy 2 part primer will do the job better, brush on once you have mixed the 2 parts using the correct ratio. Then once you have left it enough time to flash off you can apply some 2k black on top. Epoxy will if there is some slight rust on the block help stop it rusting anymore. Its perfect for aluminium blocks too, it wont peel of like many other block paints on aluminium.

Ask at your local paint-shop for car epoxy primer if you do want to use it.

Iv used the same stuff and it chips off too easily, wished id used epoxy primer but i didnt know about it back then.

as mentioned, a damn good stirring will help.

I did mine with halfords engine enamel black. The head - I just did the front and back around the ports to smarten it up a bit.

    don't see why the head will look crap, mine's been done red and i like it..

    By head i mean just the bit the mani bolts on to like how dans done it.

    old pic too! it's very clean now and that's only cos i've had it apart anyway so cleaned it up as i've chucked it back together. box is nice and shiny, it'll be filthy though when i'm tearing my 205 gti6 through fields Hyper
