Hello,

Would a decat cause the CO to go up to around the 7.3 mark or could there be another problem thats causeing this high reading ?

Cheers

That sure is high as it should be under .3

My old system went well over the limit but then the lambda would kick in to late and then the reading would go down but still kept failing emissions due to it going over instantly.

Im guessing until the pressure built up for the sensor to read emissions where if you have a cat the pressure is there trying to get through it.

Well, that sounds like a typical high reading when using a decat, so I'd say yes.

LOL
No way is that due to a de-cat!!!!No
That is down to a knackered sensor, coolant temp probablyWink
That level of Co will give you bore wash, and glaze the bores if your not carefull.
My rallye with a de-cat fitted nearly passed the mot on emissions, just slightly to high.

Doh

I read that as .73...

As Coskev says 7.3 is far too high and will cause issues. Yes

So would you suggest i get a new temp sensor and a lambda then go get a quick emissions test somewhere local to avoid anymore mileage than i have too?

So what is the limit of CO with a cat and without a cat ?

you can test them, see the FAQ.

with it running that rich it's probably running like a bag of spanners, so when you replace the faulty item it should be quite evident LOL

I havent got one of those testers so is there any other way of testing it ?

They are cheap enough though so ill get one anyway and hope the rich wont damage the lamda.

Saying that though the engine on ide or start up did cut out twice.

Also the engine did overheat a little bit when i had an air lock which is now sorted out, would that do any damage to the CTS?

Should not damage the ctsNo

Co should be below 0.5 on a cat equipped car, below 3.5 on a pre-cat carThumbs up

Ok thanks Kev, the idle seems fine and around the 8.5mark. Although on cold start up it doesnt seem to go any higher up and as its garaged thats warm i thought thats why it wont choke up on cold start up but it must be the CTS.

Yeah easy if you know how to use a multimeter and actually have one to use LOL

Surely if the idle is fine except not going up high on start up the sensor would be fine ?

As said it has cut out on me a few times on start up but then i restart it up and it works fine, so intermittent.

Its ok guys, mot sheet has some sort of typo as mot man cant understand why its there as no emission test was done as had problem with car being a cat or non cat car etc ???

Was told id have black smoke and engine would run really badly and since it dont all is fine.

Have to cancel new lambda sale now i think, save some cash for fuel lol.
