New radiator is the only reliable fixYes
Do not use radweld etcNo

As for the pressure, if its bled properly hg is the only other thing that can pressurise the systemSad

I thought so. I didn't want to use any radweld etc. as I don't want to block the system and I'm planning on keeping this car for quite a while so I'd rather fix it properly instead of filling it with s**te and running it into the ground.

I know this has been discussed in other threads, but the general consensus on this forum appears to be that a Nissens alloy rad or an OEM standard Ordonez are the only onesworth having. Cheaper alternatives are also inferior, it seems. Would you agree?

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will check my bottom hose fitting today.

What is the different between the one you linked and this one?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSENS-Radiator-PEUGEOT-306-2-0-GTI-XU10J4RS-97-98-/151031177634?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item232a28e1a2

Is it the connector on the bottom and nothing else?

Mine is a 98 Ph.2.

Yeah the one in yours appears to be the later push fit
Found on most ph3
The one in mine was the earlier design that I think clips,.
But there was a change over time mid ph2 I believe
Plus someone could have easily changed the bottom hose
Get that pic up we'll tell you which version you have! Wink

Pic coming this evening.

Can get the radiator fitted for £30 and have either the option of it being ordered in or supplying my own.
I'd rather it be a nissens as they're much cheaper than OEM ones without being poor quality.

Hope this is a good enough picture of the connector. My camera kept having a fit every time I tried to import pictures.

If someone could tell me which nissens rad I need that'd be great as I'd like to order it tomorrow. Thumbs up

Thanks for all the help so far!

that's the early type, however given the cost of a new hose, just buy the latest rad type (same part number...) and buy a new hose of the latest type, new o-ring included, no faffing.

So this (clicky) radiator?

Would you be so kind as to provide me a link to the bottom hose that would go with it? Doesn't need to be ebay, just any trusty online supplier that delivers.

Thanks a lot.

Okay, so to get a new hose I have to walk into a peugeot dealers and ask them to deliver one?

I ask as I'm going on holiday for a week on wednesday and I'd quite like to order the parts tomorrow to be delivered for when I get back & book the car in for the day after I get back as it needs to be ready to drive to Europe in soon afterwards.

If you want a hand I'm not a million miles away. Changing out the rad isn't difficult and I can show you how to bleed it correctly.

You can also speak to Warners Peugeot on 01684 297575 for parts and they'll post them out. Ed and Steve will know exactly what you are talking about.

Funnily enough, it was Ed that I ordered a bottom hose off a few years back for my ZX a few days before Pugfest, ordered an Ordonez Rad off Blue_Haddock in stoke.

Nath Waqrden picked the hose up as I was running late, Kev swapped the rad for not a lot of cash and I fitted it in the campsite at Prescott on the saurday night Laugh my ass off

Thanks a lot for the offer. As this pretty much has to be done the day after I get back as the car has a longish journey the day after that and then several days after that Europe, it can be booked in and done for £30ish locally, which is probably approaching what I'd have to give you in petrol costs. I really appreciate that though.

Thank you also for pointing me towards Warners Peugeot, I'll contact them tomorrow regarding the hose.

& Thank you to everyone else who took the time to give me their advice in this thread.

I wonder if they realise you need to either remove the inlet manifold,or remove headlights/grille and unbolt the front panel to get it out?LOL

Looks like it will just pull straight out between the inlet and front panel, but they won'tNo

He put my car back together after it was a Cat C, his usual work is crash repairs so I'm sure he knows. If it does take him an extra hour by surprise I won't begrudge him the extra few quid as he's been really good to me.
