Hi. Just seen on the news a bit about dash cams and savings on insurance. Make me want one after my accident in January to sale a lot of hassle putting my claim to bed. Anyone use one? Any recommendations? Did you save anything on the insurance?

I tried finding it but there was a thread where an EVO had been hammered around a built up area shortly before blowing it's engine, and it had all been caught on camera. Whatever set up that guy was using, I'd recommend that. Thumbs up

I use one in all the vehicles I drive, when I had the accident in the truck a year or so ago the other party blamed me, the vidoe proved other wise, the claim was settled very quick, well by insurance standards anyway.

I just put it in to every car I drive, you hope you never have an accident but if you do and you need a true account if what happened its thee.

do you need them to be approved by someone and do you need to display cameras in use in the vehicle or something?

I was thinking that this could be bad for some people though, say you are driving doing 35 in a 30 and this machine records it and you crash, could your insurance not pay out as you were driving dangerously. I would get one and not tell the insurance about it so if you crash you can show the evidence but aren't forced to if you think it could incriminate you.

Doing 35 in a 30 is not in itself dangerous, unless its around a blind bend past a school in the rain on the wrong side of the road and its your fault.

I would get one to help settle claims quicker by proving blame. I sure as hell wouldn't base any insurance quotes in having it, as in the event of any claim they are going to ask for it and it could work against you.

If you forget to charge it, put a card in or whatever you may be driving outside the terms of your insurance....

Actually they should reduce your premium for speeding as you spend less time on the road thus a lesser risk.

That's what the wife thinks anyway...

Adrian flux have just confirmed an additional 10% discount on my premium once this is installed. Nice. It literally pays to have one of these. £55 of my insurance at a cost of £25. Makes sense to me

The quality on these looks pretty good.

May buy one instead of a GoPro.

my mate has a GoPro and we used it at weekend attached to his R1 helmet, at GoKarting. he said it was very good indeed

i want something purely for proof of someone smashing into me on the road etc so needs credible quality and possibly sound recording to hear me on my daily rages
