After a mig welder must be full adjustable on power not presets.

Sand or soda blaster. Light industrial is fine but need to know cfm an working psi

Cash or swops

What's your budget for the welder Rob? There are some super nice little inverter machines on the market now for not big money. Cool

Most mig welders are 'step switched' on voltage. However cheap sets don't have many levels of adjustment and are often too hot or too cold. Inverters offer stepless voltage control so you can tailor the output to be just what you need.
Try to get something with a euro fit torch too if you can afford it as they make maintenance so much easier.

Let me know what you're after as I have a couple of second hand hobby migs up for sale too.

hmm, I spy R-Tech, how do you rate them Dave?

always wondered what the difference was, did find Rich's SIP so much easier to diall in especially on thin metal, where a clarke with the switches was blowing holes on one setting and leaving tall blobs on the lower one LOL

Well Marion, I think value for money you can't beat them.

You're in the ball park Rob, I can do you one of those R-Tech iMig 160 sets for £445.50 + VAT

That makes it £534.60, it's about the best you can buy for the money, nothing step switched is even close. Lincoln Electric do a really nice inverter mig but its more than twice the price of the R-Tech, no brainer really.
If you can hold on for a couple of months R-Tech will be launching an even more cost effective inverter without the digital meters. Failing that I have a new but quite old stock 140 amp (ish) hobby mig that won't break the bank.
