Just curious thinking here, but where is the data for the immobiliser stored in the phase 1? In the the P2/3 where the transponder in the key has to be near the ignition barrel, then the ECU will de-immobilise and allow the engine to run, with the phase one is putting the code into the keypad effectively just doing the same - i.e. put the code in then the keypad sends the correct signal to de-immobilise the ECU? If this is the case, would that mean in a P1 effectively you can use an ECU from any other RFS engine without having to worry about "unlocking" it first?

Yes, the keypad does the same thing. Yes

However, you would still need an unlocked ECU if you wished to change one as it would then 'relock' to your car.

Good stuff! Thanks Stan. Not that I'm after a replacement ECU, it was just a random thought I had in the shower.

Well I'd already had my obligatory shower w**k, so there was nothing else to think of.
