Okay guys, I'm just really interested in how you do this?

I have a PeterT stg.1 inlet, and I think I did something wrong when I timed it last time, as now the idle bounces up and down a bit which it did not do before Dunno

I use a timing disc, which is attached to the (solid) crank pulley, and measure the tappet movement with a dial gauge, and set the cam timing according to this:

Duration 226 deg. @ 0.050"
Max. Lift 0.350"
Lift @ TDC - 0.065" (but a range of 0.065-0.075 is acceptable for fine tuning)

Now, the only problem is, that I couldn't find a good place for the dial gauge, so it sits in angle with the tappet, thus the distance it shows is different from what the tappet actually moves.

How do you lot do this properly?
