Genuine Peugeot detachable towbar for sale, comes with all bolts & metalwork, electrics and a gold ball and cover.

These are incredibly rare in detachable form, I had to wait for years for this to come up second hand as they are not available new. Changed cars so not needed any more.

I've had it on my GTi-6 for use with a trailer but mostly a bike rack to save scratching bodywork etc with the bike.

The bumper needs to be trimmed on the lip underneath but this is NOT visible from behind.

£120

Picture shows the only visible bit when detached, electrics are behind the bumper.

Slight off topic and free bump:

How did you find the bike rack for stability / ease of use? Which one did you have? Thumbs up

Heres the quick release bit with a choice of ball. The best one is the one not actually bolted on so they need swapping over:

The quick release bit on its own:

And a pic of underneath the car showing bumper trimming. This is my other tow bar which is a lot rustier, the one I'm selling is already off the car:

Yeh, would be good. If your location on your profile is right, it's an effing long way from where I am - would probably be cheaper to stick it on a pallet!

Jonny,

I finally found another one of these, and had a go at fitting it on the weekend. Now need a bit of advice....

I cut a bit out of the bottom of the bumper and offered the cross bar up under the boot floor. I fitted the side bars up, and nipped it all up. The holes which the base of the detachable bit bolts onto point directly out the back of the bumper (i.e. not low enough by about 40mm).

Did you have any jiggery-pokery going on under there to make it all line up, or did it go straight on? I'm sure mine's a gen pug one, but the fact that it doesn't fit properly makes me think it's for a PH1 car.

I notice your light fitting points down at the floor a bit; is that standard? Mine points straight backwards...

Sorry to be a pest; would like to get this sorted and just need to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious before I crack the welder out!

Cheers,
Charlie

PS - pics aren't working for me; could you post up some more if you have any.

Its was specially adapted by me so it all fitted under the bumper without cutting too much, the standard genuine one doesn't, it needs a lot more of the bumper cutting and once then removed the bumper has a hole in it.
this is why I modified it so you can remove the bumper afterwards and no one knows it was ever there

Thanks Carl. As I thought.

How did you mod it? did you change the bit that The towball bolted to? Or the plates where it bolts to the car ?
I thought the best option was to weld another mounting plate on the crossbar and use the old one as a brace. now not so sure!
