I am really in need of a favour if someone can help. I will explain what's up.

I have a problem with the running of the car. It has a miss fire at idle, but seems to run ok under acceleration. Now all things would seem to point to the coil packs, I have tried with a spare one I have here, but I can't pinpoint which one is the problem, or the one which I think seems to be causing the problem does not change when I put the other coil pack in.

Now, what I could really do with is someone who would be willing to 'test' their coil packs on my car, so I can confirm or not, a coil pack being the problem, before I shell out on new coil packs. I am not 100% that is the cause, hence the ask.

I could get to wherever you are, do a quick switcheroo, see if it runs properly on known working coil packs, then swap them back.

That is the easiest trouble shoot I can think of, I would welcome any suggestions. I've tried the removing individual coil packs, 3 seem to cause an instant laboured idle on 3 cyls, whilst when I remove the one nearest the battery, there is a slight delay before the engine labours on 3 cyls. I would think that cylinder is the cause, but is does the same thing on the spare (unknown good or bad) coil pack I have, which is why I would like to try swapping all 4 with known working ones, before buying new ones.

I have no idea what it would be if not the coil pack(s).

Would anyone be willing to assist in troubleshooting? Thanks in advance! Thumbs up

Just to add, I have checked for loose spark plugs, they were changed 10,000 miles ago, I have inspected them and they look fairly tidy with no obvious signs of issues.

I will be cleaning my ICV this weekend, as that is probably not helping, but it's less of an idle problem hunting, more of a missfire/ running on 3 cyls type issue.

That sounds good to me. I'll drop you a text in the afternoon to confirm.

The old girl needs me to spend some time and money on her (Although, brakes suspension and exhaust are sorted now).

I hope it's not that too! I think I might have to start looking for a replacement engine before too long.

Still unknown, but it needs a new clutch very soon, the radiator is leaking and it needs a cam belt. With the engine not running right it will be cheaper to put this new lump in, as it's got a fairly recent clutch and head rebuild. I can still sell bit's of mine.

I thought it the better option, what with the clutch and cam belt in the next couple of months costing that alone. Engine's got less miles than mine too. No brainer for me really. Smile
