http://mobile.peugeot.co.uk/208-gti-exterior-style/

I popped into my local Peugeot today and they know me well, when he gave me the TB seal bag, he gave me the new 208 gti THP 200bhp leaflet, one look and i fell in love with it, it looks the best yet.

So i showed the GF it and she instantly loved it, she's quite fussy with the looks of cars. She said why did you show me that for, i really want one now LOL

It most definitly has vibes of the iconic 205GTI and looks to have a powerful motor with very good fuel economy, once its out in Summer ill book a test drive for sure Wink

Does look quite good, I have been offered a lease deal on one which is quite tempting.

I've seen a few of these 208's flying about, since the 306 i'd say it's the most pleasing to the eye!

I went past our local dealer the other day and saw a couple of base models which look ok so I did a search and got that page too. Must admit I like it and it's about £19k iirc? I'm sure it won't be long before you can knock a couple of thousand off that and would then cost about the same as what a 6 was new.

On the same note, Peugeot say they are renaming the 208 Type R5 to 208 T16, sounds good!

If you account for inflation though a 6 was around 28K when new in todays money.

The weight is pretty good for the power too!

im gonna be a sore thumb here

but what kindof person buys a new car for £10,000 or more when you can get an old one that does nie on exactly the same for less than £1000

and the only answers i can come up with is women and tools

i pointed this out to my friends with a new shiny bmw 3 series, his responce was "yeah some people want the warranty reassurance"

my quetion in responce was "how many time has it been in the garage in the 4 months youve had it"

    his responce "six"

my question then was "how many times has my 400 pound 16 year old 306 been in the garage since i bought it?"

    my answer "none"

new cars are built around making more money these days not reliability. the more you have to fix/service a car the more money the car manufactuer makes.

and as for the styling........if no one can see the current trend at the moment for any motor company is to "copy" the VW scirroco i really am living in a world of lost hope.

That was kind of my point, all these years later and the price is the same so I think they're good value.

Cars follow styling trends, Thats just the way it is and I personally like them. In the not too distant future I plan on getting a new car because I simply don't have spare time to devote to fixing or servicing a car. What little time I do have is devoted to my family. I wouldn't care if it goes in the garage as its fixed fir free and can be dropped off before work etc. I'm also sick and tired of buying older cars with potential problems and bodges by previous owners. I also want a car with modern safety features which tops my list. I like your argument jimmy but it doesn't work for me I'm afraid.

    What are you on about?

Aren't you the idiot that spent 3500 on his car only for it to go pop. And looking at the threads you have started you certainly don't have a trouble free car as you suggest!

Yes, 306 gti are fun for what they are and cheap to buy and maintain. However, some people prefer aircon that works, cambelts that don't snap for fun etc etc.

Maybe I've woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, but I'm sick of stupid comments like this. I'm sure you will soon suggest that why would you spend on 20k on a new 208 gti, when you can get a second hand 500 brake M5 for the same money.

    LOL

If you have the money to buy a new car and you can then spot on, we all like new things etc, if you can and do fair play, we are all different and like to spend our money on different things.

I'll be booking a test drive like! I think they look great qnd I dont like the scirocco (sp?).

I also think the "my car breaks down, but its only cost effective to repair, if i do it myself" vs "I bought a new car, any trouble is hassle free and fixed for free" is a funny one

JUst read that Peugeot have hinted at the possibility of a 208R
Which would be sitting above the GTI....
    Interesting...
Imagine 250hp in one of these.
