I don't think there'll be any kind of trackday until March, so even if he tries the car there won't be a great audience to watch when he wraps the car around a lamppost...

And am I the only one thinks that the caliper brackets are not one of the best designs in the world?

Do they have lamposts at the side of racing tracks? Big grin

I meant if he tries the car on the road Wink

Yep, driven round this circuit quite a lot now, there are definitely lamp posts here. Yes

Although, to be fair I doubt you could book a "trackday" here. LOL

Well, it's more to the point that it's an open road all year round so very little chance of getting the authorities to shut the road just for some trackday bookings...Laugh

He was, on a road rally:

The brakes does stop the car, yet I don't know whether it ran on the carbon setup or not!

I can't comment on that as I've never driven a powerful RWD car yet, and it was wet, but still it seems like the stopping power coems from the engine and not the brakes!?

Yeah he's on the brakes very early and not very hard at all and there's a lot of kangarooing while he's slowing down, so perhaps he is using them.

No, pretty sure first is a dogleg engagement (this puts 2nd where first normally lives making 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th straight forwards or backwards as 1st is rarely used once moving in a race car)

Dogleg first would usually be over on the left at the bottom or top on it's own, to give a straight change on 2>3rd, which is what you usually use most. f**k knows what he's done there, but it looks a bit of a f**kup.

So, gearbox is weird, he's set the car up to handle like a complete dog, his brakes barely work so he has to keep smashing it down the box to try to stop, which then throws the rear out and leads to him correcting it before he even gets to the apex. Couple that with the handling and some inept driving and he only wastes, oooh, half the next straight trying to get the car on line again.

Masterful!

I'd describe myself as at best an intermediate track driver and I've never done a rally, and I reckon I could have done better than that.

The gearbox did look weird though, was definitely a dog leg but did look like first was also off to the right somewhere.

It is indeed strange! It should be like this:

I haven't done too many trackdays, but I try to improve my lap times racing good simulators, like LFS, rFactor, Assetto Corsa. So eventhough I'm a beginner I can say that driving style can be really entertaining but not fast.

He manages to do everything wrong even from the very basics LOL

To quote the site: "a car that looks nervous on the outside, gives the impression of being driven on the limit, but in reality a nervous car does nothing more than lose time, offering less traction and less lateral grip"
