This will confuse people

Can the above feature return or what is the new way to make it work? Previously you could link a thread direct to a post on the page by adding the extension on the web address such as page=2#35.

Looks like it's just a minor issue with the display page - the anchors that make it work are definitely still there, but they have the ID of the post in the database, not the post number. For example on your post above, it has this:

<a name="2108018"></a>

Rather than this

<a name="1"></a>

So the link you method does work if you know the ID, which proves the functionality hasn't been removed. So to answer your question no, at the moment there's no way you can do it without looking for the ID, but it looks like that's an accident rather than a purposeful change on Ash's part.

I'll need to look at why it was changed. I don't want to stop something else from working.

Will let you know ...

Only the Captain can look into the coding side of things Jon, so it's Ash you need to be asking.

I would imagine seeing as he has said he'll look into it, he probably already is. Smile

I know that Stan but you always seem to have that finger on the pulse so maybe you can get him to nudge this priority up the urgency list...

OK, looks like the reason it was changed was so that after you edit a post, you get returned to the post itself, instead of just being dumped back at the top of the page.

However, there's no reason why we can't use more anchors, so I've added the post numbers back in again.

You should now be able to link to a post like this: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=153389&page=1#6

ash, can we *please* change the email notification thing in feedback? (where it comes from an invalid email, thus some servers don't deiliver the mail)
