Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
You know when you lose that a part comes loose without any drilling out, rounded off bolts etc?

Not the case with my manifold.. Standard one was pretty much rusted on so I attacked it with a blow torch, WD40 and the Persuader (hammer).

Surprisingly all the studs and bolts came off fairly easy apart from one right underneath, the most awkward one to reach. I spend an hour drilling, hammering and generally threatening it.
Just went to buy some hardcore drill pieces and a few hacksaw blades.
Lambda sensor is still in old manifold so that will no doubt give me grief too.woooo

No major updates or changed to this.
Manifold fitted, now bogs down and runs rich..
I have replaced
injectors
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Resealed all exhaust joints and checked for leaks
New coolant temp sensor

Still does it which pretty much points all fingers at the lambda sensor.

Apart from that it's great, comfy and a good daily.
Less boomy and bassy now that I fitted the 4-2-1 manifold and I've got that raspy note back.
I fitted gti Floor mats and added an Aux in cable.

Other updstes-
Washer jet pump doesn't work ordered a smaller tank and pump off eBay.
Fitted new fuse for front driving lamps and applied LaminX yellow tint.

Also gear selector controller has lots of play in it, gearstick had a lot of play in it side to side. The usually its a small pin that's worn out in the controller arm. Will need to be drilled out and replaced with a bigger bolt. Such an awkward angle do i may just have to deal with it until I get a better excuse to get the box off.

Was gonna say I've driven 106 gti's and owned several 6's and have always found a standardish 6 to be quicker than a 106 Gti unless they are running cams decent manifold and a remap then their rapid little things Wink,
Have to say though that 8v 1.3 rallye put a big big grin on my face when I first drove it down the back lanes near Callum's. Felt really chuckable as well.

Have you tried a new lambda yet mate? Bet it cures it is the most common fault I've found with them really. The boosted 6 is back on the road again and soon to be stripped :p.
Also we're all showing our cars at santapod next month got a couple of stand passes extra so let me know if you wanna come up.

Still looking for a lambda sensor Pete. I refuse to buy a brand new one for silly money.

Lil moment of weakness resulted in my car now having the Legendary OMP GrpA INOX Stainless steel exhaust fitted.
Cheeky deal was done on my mint Pugsport and my old standard exhaust manifold.

It's a stainless steel system no longer sold.
This thing is Crazy.. A lot louder and it pops, splutters, burbles and pops like a grpB rally car now. It's almost overkill!
Will run it for a week and probably go back to a Pugsport which is a bit more refined and quiet.
Would have loved this on my old 16v Rallye.

Nice progress, those omp's do make them sound like a little rally car, however its not really sensible now is it? lol

Had a supersprint on my old spaxo which was basically like the pugsport and that drove me nuts on the motorway.

I know I knowDunno
I've always wanted one thou. It's a lot quieter than the a Pugsport on gentle throttle and idle but a lot louder than even a Supersprint on full chat.
Will upload a video soon, it's just bonkers.
I can get a Pugsport and nice wad of cash my way so its already up for sale on!

Before..

After..

Also resealed my camera covers and polished them, pics when it's light. Refitted the Inox properly today as it was blowing from the manifold because I didn't align it properly when fitting it before.

Will come off again tonight as it's just sold..
Now on the hunt for a 2" Pugsport to replace it.

Well well what's new.. Not a lot.
Arty engine bay shot

I had a standard system fitted after the OMP and it was just too boring. I replaced cat with a Scorpion decat pipe and it freed up the revs nicely. Added a raspy note too.
My 4-2-1 is angled up too hight which resulted in the exhaust system knocking on front ARB.
So...
Pugsport back on

Beady beadyness

Plans are New performance tires.
I had a lil moment, sideways moment the other day.. Unexpected lift off oversteer on a damp road. Swooping left hander, back end kicked out, and slapped back and forth. Luckily I've had other 106s sideways before and won it back.
Still shat me up a bit as i didn't see it coming!
I blame the old and average tires.

No but I keep looking on Ebay for a cute lil 1.3 Rallye. Girlfriend doesn't mind rattly or noisy cars so who knows, might have me a lil project soon.
