Just wondering what people's thought are on them?

Obviously needed, and whilst I don't want to scrimp on something that it going to potentially preserve what little brain cells I have, I would rather save a few pennies and spend them actual track days.

I've been looking at this one on tweeks. Seems ok, but not safety rated (Snell/FIA):

The other, costing just under a tonne more, is this one from V2 which appear to get some good reviews:
http://www.v2sport.com/Pro/V2pro-white-snell-sa2005-msa-standard-racing-helmet-with-chin-skirt-for-open-cabin-vehicles.html

Is the latter a little overkill for just trackdays? Open faces are obviously cheaper, but full face would be needed if I ever decide to track the S2000.

Has anyone got either of the above?

Graham

Hiya, I've got a slightly different variant to the link above of the V2

Nice light helmet, SA2005 approved, I use this one for karting and track days, probably a little ott, I've also got a bell which came from America, it looks much the same put the price tag of it does reflect the quality, that ones all painted up too.

I know a lot of people for track days do like open face as you can talk to passengers etc.

I'd go for the v2 out of the ones above you've linked but the slightly different variant which doesn't have the top spoiler as that makes them a lot heavier and probably more cumbersome in a tin top

Hope this helps?

I have an open face one, spent about £200 on it IIRC, which I deemed to be a good compromise. I reckon anything £150 and up I'd trust, I have a few cheapo ones as well for passengers if they don't have one, but I value my head more than other people's.

No idea where I got those numbers from, just a feeling.

I dunno how these compare to bike helmets? I use my old shoei for karting.

You'd be surprised how many cheap helmets surpass the expensive big named helmets. This is on bike tests though, and as I say, I'm not sure how they're rated

As above. I've just bought a omp open face and going away from the motorbike style one and vision is much better.

I use my old bike one for the trackdays but will have to get a valid one for when I eventually start racing.

Motorbike helmets for cars for just some reason I think are wrong! Lol

Mind you I wouldn't wanna wear mine on a bike! It would be horrible!
