Wiper works intermittently. Is the motor knackered or could it be a dodgy relay.sometimes just restarting th car fixes it.

It is unlikely to be the motor itself, as it still works. I'd start by checking the wiring for loose connections and trying a new relay (both very cheap options).

It being intermittent, and the fact that it works after restarting the car was making me think more the motor rather than relay, perhaps motor brushes are shot? Well check the connectors. Surely if a relay it's duff it's duff?

Usually the blue relay located in the tailgate. It gets subjected to leaked water and then tends to fault. Quite a common failure. Yes

If anything the relay gives it a mind of it's own so it stays on from my experiences.

This happens when relay is failing combined with slightly low battery.

I have a spare relay if you are after one. Although, I'd day it's the motor or the switch. Mine did the same and I tried a number of relays to no avail. Ended up wiring the motor to the wires so that when you turn the switch all the way over it wipes.
