Saw this earlier! Very tasty! Is it the one that gets smoked by a GTI 180 on top gear? Plate ends JFM??

Yep the Miami on ebay is K923 JFM – 92 pre cat model

I know the car well, bit of a shame it’s been tarted up underneath.

Shocked Paul is selling it, he is a BIG BIG 205 fan and has a lot of 205’s, I thought this was going to be kept locked away forever.

A brief history of it –
Previous owner was a member on here that you all love – Simbob (he should never have sold it and know doubt still regrets selling it.)

Rich Treen owned it before Sim.

Paul Hancock’s (EX Peugeot Sport Club Chairman) dad owned it before Rich.

It has been featured in Evo magazine in 1999 and driven by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear.

In 2003 it was featured in Auto Express magazine and again on Top Gear driven by the Stig –

Yes it was the one that was tested against a silver 206 GTI 180. The truth of the test isn’t well know, the cars were going to be tested on the TG track but they decided at the last minute to test them from a standing start to a fifth of a mile. It was said that Peugeot told TG that the 180 had to be shown to win no matter what – obviously due to affecting sales. The 205 and 206 only had two runs, the other cars tested all did three runs oddly. As it turned out, unfortunately shortly after the footage was recorded it was found the head gasket had gone on and a new exhaust manifold was required for the 205 so doubtful it was running at its best on the day anyway?

Rich said the MK1 Golf didn’t actually win against the MK4 Golf, it was a fix, the slow speed filming they did after the actual true runs head to head, is when you see the MK1 beat the MK4!!

It’s also been on the front cover and featured a number of times in ‘Torque’ magazine, the Peugeot Sport Club magazine.

All in all it’s a great car with quite a lot of history to it, it should still have a light scuff on the front bumper from when it very gently kissed a barrier from memory? When being tested by Evo magazine back in 1999 in the Alps, Rich and Sim left it as it was to keep the car original.

I see it still has the Devil stainless backbox, I was never a fan of it (just looked weedy and didn’t suit the 205) and would rather see it sporting a standard system or a Magnex. Rich put up with it because he could get a good mirror finish off it.

By the sounds Paul wants at least high 5's / 6k odd and will no doubt achieve that or more given what some tarted up 205’s sell for more with no real history to them.

I really do hope this goes to a TRUE enthusiast that will care for it.

I’ve probably bored most of you by now so I’m off.

The one who made the winning bid of £1900 bid it up.

I was second highest and was offered the car using the ebay second highest bidder option.

I refused as the auction had been bid up from £1300 so wasn't paying £1850 as it wasn't a true price. He said £1800 was what he wanted. But I wasn't interested.

So now it is relisted.

Got the two sellers of overpriced cars confused.

still nigh on 3k for a base model stickered up 205? no chance, you can get a Real Rallye for that.
