Austin MacHale, what a driver! reminds me of the old Circuit of Ireland video's I watched as a kid. He drove a mean looking Opel Manta 400 in black with the Shell Oil's livery. Same era as Jimmy McRae/ Bertie Fisher/ Russell Brooks. Tarmac Rallying at it's best.

Some awesome looking 309's there lads, nice to see old photo's of them competing.

There was a genuine LHD 16v Miami on ebay around 3/4 months back needing attention, went for
around £1200 iirc!

Missed that one!

A customer at AB Motorsport had an immaculate one to which he wouldn't sell. Might be worth a trip to France but not a cheap one.

Dad said he proffered it to the 1.9 205 in a fair few ways, especially running to the rules that governed development on the cars

There were never any UK registered though we're there and weren't they 1.9 16 valve? What engine was that?

This car was built by Peugeot for Patrick watts who won the championship in it in '91 too

Dad sold it at the end of the'92 season to a rally champion in ireland, I think his name was Austin Machale

The engine was the alloy block 1.9 Mi16 and mine came with a Peugeot sport stainless steel manifold and system with4pot brakes believed to be on the car from new. Austin McHale was a very quick lad on Irish tar in wrc and rwd machinery....nowto find pictures.

bas**rds, I'd love a 309! But I'm wanting a bit of a rally car, so 205 is the way to go I think

309 is much better handling, and not all that slower... carries the speed better through corners IMO... closer to a 306 by miles than a 205..

My question to the seller:

Are you accepting genuine bids on this auction or only Shill bids? I was genuinely interest but within 24hrs the bids have reached £1900!!! Come on who you kidding, Ian Huntley has more chance working in a school again!
