Right chaps, i have managed to get almost everything to work on this conversion as it should after a few problems Big grin

I only have one little problem with it. The problem is the oil temp warn light isnt working. Iv earthed the wire up and the dial as should goes to the max. I have tested for a live around the speedo bulbs hole area and there is a live there, iv used a few known working bulbs as well yet i still dont have the red warn light working with ignition being on. I have also used two speedo's as well.

I have a broken one fitted to the sump at the mo, it broke when engine was in storage being on a pallet, i wont change it over until i change the oil ready for its first MOT. So for this reason, i have earthed up the sensor (via the battery earth) where it would bolt up to the sump and used two known working sensors and still the red warn light wont light up.

Im really lost with regards to this, surely the 2 sensors arent faulty over night or anything.

Any more tips with regards to this would be very helpfull, thanks Thumbs up

Looks like the answer isnt going to be an easy one.

Anyone know if there is something i can do or is it time to get the pros out on the job ?

I dont really want to buy a new sensor because they arent cheap to buy and it may not be the problem.

Thing is iv tested everything and it should work, only possible problem is both sensors being faulty as there is a live around bulb hole area and like oil pressure sender it wont actually light up until the unit works or gets plugged in.

I did research about that and i think they have different size screw bits on them dont they. I also found people have used gti6 ones and they work fine AFAIK with regards to the red warn light.

I can't see they willNo

The Gti6 uses a gauge in the dash,so would be a sender, sliding scale.

The warning light in a 205 will use a switch I would guess,so just on or offThumbs up

Iv tried looking for this oil temp sensor and i either get the chargable subscriber page when i type in oil temperature sensor or i get pages of sumps with no sensor.

Does anyone have the oil temp sensor part number by any chance?

Could be talking through my arse thinking back now!Yes long time since I've fiddled with a 309Roll eyes

They have only got one connection on the orig 205/309 sender for oil temp gauge I'm sure, cause it was a ring connector held on with a nut IIRCDunno

So the warning light must work off the same sender/connection that the gauge does.

But I still think the Gti6 sender won't work spot on,well it didn't in my 309 as the oil temp gauge would rarely show upto the lowest mark on gauge unless you were real ragging it,normal driving would not see it move from the bottom.Thumbs up

Thing is i know the oil pressure sender for the gti6 works fine and red warn light works so surely the gti6 one would too ?

The gti6 as you know uses a heat exchanger which maybe why the temp wont go very high on a 205 conversion without the heat exchanger.

It's like the coolant temp sender though too,the gauges/senders are slightly incompatable between the two cars.

If you use the Gti6 coolant sender with 205/309 clocks the gauge reads slightly high, which at first is abit concerning cause you think your new conversion is not right!!!LOL

Where as the oil temp reads low on the gauge.

Difference in resistance's/readings between the twoWink

Ok Coskev ill check the diameter of the 6 ones i have before i buy one, just to make sure. i have one live wire for this sensor on the loom. Thing is the diameter M14 one you posted is available but the M16 one as said isnt. Service box says date from etc but no dates there and i already sorted the ph2 205 section which shows two sumps with the two different part numbers and sizes etc. My engine came from the 1999 Xsara BTW.

Unless the M16 size one is for the CAT version car or something like that ??

Thanks for the help, hopefully this will sort it out, +1 to you if it does mate Big grin
