Author Subject: what number should be stamped on a gti6 block is it 4rs???

just collected an engine (in the dark)No supposedly gti6 but im unsure as it has no cam covers so worried in case its an xsi Shock and also the exhaust manifold is identical to a 6 one i.e tubular but does not have the 2 lugs for tightning it up to the cat ???? i will try and post a picture its the only one i have as of yet as its dumped in my garage Sad https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Irq9LR_foOQ/UMulC_uFsOI/AAAAAAAAA3E/CzS-4_y86zY/s912/FB_IMG_1355513946773406.jpg

Does the head have a cam sensor init ?

Are there separate coil packs ?

It should have RFS written on it I think ?

yea mate 4 individual sagem coil packs and a little plug on the head near cam pulley ?

not opened any links, if it has 4 coil packs its a 6 head xsi head cant take 4 coils it only has 1 coil pack

Its a gti engine but looks fooked. Id be getting a refund straight away! Also, that manifold has been messed with. No use to anyone!

I know I just don't get it with the manifoldn n as there's no signs of cutting lugs off or anything and you can see where a clamp has been used to tighten it to cat pipe
I paid £50 for the lot head alternator coil packs pas pump head complete so still not to bad

as I said, its a xsara engine, phase2 on have a different V-band style clamp, nothing has been cut off.

Find a low mileage XU10J4R block (aka XSI) stick it all in there.
