The fact that Ash thinks that banning people will make them sit contemplating their lives before coming crawling back apologising really says a lot I think, I just don't think he gets how it is at all. Do you think that's what happens when someone's banned? Do you think they sit crying in a corner, all regretful? Or do you just think it makes their points look even more spot on and add more fuel to the fire?

Seriously?! Blink

quote:
So in his monthly check-up the other day, did Ash comment on the "Forum software upgrade to be in line with other sites" thread? Did he say either "yeah guys, this sounds good, I'll try and spend some time thinking about it" or even just "Na, to be honest guys I don't have the time for this", either would have been fine, and a good business decision.

Owain, do me a favour and re-read that thread. Let me know where these terribly useful ideas of yours are. You post screenshots of the homepage and moan about it not having a redesign in 5 years. So despite me redesigning the database and rewriting every single line of code 18 months ago, you complain about the homepage looking the same.

Sorry dude, but I've got no patience for people like you. I always listen to ideas, but you don't offer anything at all, and I'm not going to pat you on the back every time you think you know better.

Having said that, if you'd just like to trade personal insults, I'm game.

Owain,

To be fair, insulting other people is pretty low, to go on and insult their family is terrible and I'm disappointed you went down to that level to be honest.
You've mentioned you're happy to pay £5 a year and have a chat/banter with people you don't really know. So how about go and do that? If you're only here for that, you don't need to worry about bug fixes and code errors etc and having the odd update. Just pay your money and have that chat.

You call this place a "little car forum" and yet it obviously means a lot than that to you because you have shown your passion towards it. If that's all it is then either pay your money and accept it or don't pay and leave, it's really that simple.
However, the very fact that you have put so much time and effort into writing replies and moaning about various issues makes me think it's worth more to you than just a "little car forum".

You call me a "liar". This I don't like. I didn't say I had contacted Ash until I actually had. What I said was that Ash was "aware" of the problem. This much is true because he had posted on the thread in question already. I later brought it to his attention once it was clear to me that Ash was under the impression that the issue was resolved when it clearly wasn't, so I contacted him about it. If I had realised Ash was unaware of the situation I would have contacted him sooner. I have not lied to you or anyone else on this forum therefore feel insulted by your accusation.

But above all else, you have previously stated that you wouldn't want to help with the site or be Admin as you felt it was a difficult task with no thanks involved. Fine, there's nothing wrong with that attitude at all, but you can't then complain when all you're willing to do is be a "user" and that's all.

No need, don't think anyone cares enough to reply.

I don't know why people think I've been insulting their families, but at the point people start saying ridiculous things like that it's just time to stop.

i don't think owain has said he wouldn't help, it's that ash seems like he doesn't want the help and would rather do it his way

don't recall him saying anything bad about anyones families? merely stating that the ownership of the forum had changed hands by law so therefore was it ash who was still accountable for being contacted re: problems?!

This is only going to go one way, rather than adding bait I think it's best off either locked, or ignored.

Let 0wain have his rant, me and Rikky will post some GIFs and then come the weekend this thread will fall to page 2 and we can all forget about it.

There is no need to lock it, if they're not interested no-one's forcing people to read it. No point bringing back the "other" constantly ignored problem of the auto-locking threads everyone wanted gone. Locking threads achieves nothing, it's been proven time and time again.

For the record, it wasn't me who brought this thread back up, I was happy to let it lie.

    Ok then:

    And then later:

Hardly appropriate and could have caused offence.

This was the lie, given you had not checked with Ash to confirm this, you assumed, what does assuming do?

I'm sorry Stan, but if that's your idea of some kind of 21st-century "yo momma" jibe, then you are seriously need to consider changing your standards LOL

In what *possible* way could that have caused offence?! Seriously? That's what I said that you're both so offended about?!

How about this as a thought - if Ash hadn't wanted people to know his mum's name, he shouldn't have made her the sole publicly listed director of a company we're all paying?

    LOL

I still however feel that it was unecessary given the conversation at the time and then suddenly you bring that into it.

    +1

It seems ash has a personal issue with you which is why he's making comments like if you want to trade insults he's game, if he had no issue surely he would just say let's agree to disagree and leave it at that etc not make provocative comments and basically ask for it to start again. He's clearly not 'game' anyway hence he banned you when imo you didn't even get started on insulting him properly unless I missed something, all I saw was you tell him in effect he's useless which is an opinion you are more than entitled to hold and express if you choose.

As mentioned by someone else it would be interesting to hear the other admins views on it all, the silence suggests to me they don't want to rock the boat but who knows.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way, I don't feel it was inappropriate at all. No-one could locate Ash, I found a legitimate, legal reason. Light-hearted and in jest, perhaps, but it's not exactly an insult. Her age and address are also publicly listed, but I never even mentioned any of that as that would have been inappropriate.
