Has anyone got a lightweight flywheel on there car? If so what does it run like under 2000rpm because mine runs and drives quite lumpy under 2k in the higher gears I'm just wondering if its normal with the flywheels fitted or weather iv got another problem? If I is the flywheel then il happily live with it I just want to rule everything out first.

I've got one fitted, and also got a very slight misfire/lumpyness at light throttle under 2000 rpmDunno

Flywheel never crossed my mind, but it did start around the time I fitted itDunno

Yup mine does this doesn't like running smoothly all te time when cold either a few of us from Kent meets noticed we all have the same issue and we all have lightened flywheels. Cant say for sure yours is the same though but quite likely.

That's a relief don't have to worry about it being anything else now lol but that's exactly what mine does tho light throttle just under 2000 rpm and like u say worse when cold and trust me its definately the flywheel causing it iv spent bloody ages replacing things literally everything u could imagine had the timing belt replaced twice the first time I done and just to make sure I got a garage to do it again someone I know even lent me a perfectly working but unused gti6 to strip all the bits off and put on mine. Waste of time tho ay I just can't bare driving it knowing there might be a problem if I know what it is then I don't mind but if not I have got to find it haha

Sounds like it's overfueling slightly, wonder if a remap could get rid of it?

if you think its over fuelling when cold, then have you changed the coolant temp sensor?

Maybe it's the Air Intake Temp sensor at fault, have you tried this one at all?

My motor (when it runs) has a flywheel, and apparently when it was fitted it highlighted injector timing issues (causing stalling or some s**t)

So it was remapped by Wayne (Chipwizards) and now runs lovely at idle

(slight lump every now and then, but it has pt80 cams in it too)

Why is it only chip wizards can map these, due to equipment needed?Dunno

pretty much, a map for a DTA is about £100 less IIRC.

Would I be correct in thinking a full map on a dta etc would be a lot more work than a tweaked map on a standard ecu?Dunno

Or can't the standard ecu map be tweaked, and requires a full remap?Smile

There are others that can do it, or so I've been told. I personally spoke to Midland performance centre who claimed they could do it, apparently the chap there used a gti6 as his uni project so has the equpiment to do it.

My understanding is you need an emulator to be able to talk to the Ecu hence there are not many people that have developed one to do it.

Yes, this is correct. If your ECU is standard then you will have to have it socketed to take an EEPROM. If this process was already done, then it would be a lot cheaper to tweak that map. Yes

that must be annoying actually! nearly put a lightened FW into mine. glad i didn't now. now i can worry about interior parts falling off and imminent cambelt failure rather than a misfire
