Hi guys it really pains me to be writing this but sometimes life just turns it head on you and for one reason or another i now reluctantly might need to sell up.

(i have started this thread to gauge any interest and to see what people think shes worth with the current setup)


I have an x reg (very late 2000) 306 gti 6 in the colour china blue. when i bought the car it was completely standard bar a powerflow exhaust thanks to the previous owner. for a while i kept her standard, adament i wouldn't change anything, but then the urge to tinker descended upon me.

as she stands, the car has been modified for track use as follows:

Rear half cage welded in by phillipm
Harness bar welded in by daveyboy
two trs 4 point road legal harnesses
two cobra tailored seat subframes
two cobra monaco bucket seats
braided brake lines from mr swampy all round
interior professionally resprayed china blue - better than new
toyo t1r tyres all round

Whole interior completely stripped except door cards and dash.


Things awaiting to be fitted

mintex 1144 brake pads all round
pagid brake discs all round
spax suspension full kit (will be lowered at rear to match)


It was only yesterday that i took her to have the cambelt changed by carl grimsley (mech repairs), this was the whole kit (waterpump, belt, tensioners ect)

while at carls he informed me that the inlet cam timing had been advanced by a previous owner, i had no idea this had been done but carl can vouch for this as he changed the cambelt.

The car has current mot and tax, with tax being most recent (renewed for 12 months)

The car also has a log book with lots of reciepts/history.

the current mileage is 87400 approximately.

she runs nicely and in my time owning her shes never let me down apart from a split power steering pipe but thats truthfully the only thing i've had to sort out.

A quick, agile, thrilling car that puts a big smile on my face, that i dont want to sell but in my current circumstance is something i need to do No

The car is prime and near enough ready for its first track day (it hasn't been out yet as i haven't changed the suspension or brakes yet)

but on the same token she is still completely useable on the road, as this is what shes used for at the moment.

really just wanted to see if theres anyone wanting a car pretty much ready to go and doesnt need any work doing to it.

That's a shame you have to sell up, but I'm thinking around the £2100 mark probably?

I'm thinking £1500/£1700.

Purely because of the limited track day market it will now appeal to being stripped and caged.

    ^ as said its track day car couldnt run ya binlids round in this to go to tescos in .. Will be very apealing to some one going to convert to a track car tho , glwts Wink

    Of course.

    But realistically we are in a climate where there are many other capable track cars available for the region I have quoted.

    Don't forget, this is a 'what do you think this is worth' thread - not to be confused with a 'please give me a false sense of hope and overprice my car with virtual money you'd not actually ever pay' thread.

    OP - what price do you personally think it's worth in all honesty? Price it at that and see what happens. Techdw did exactly that and came down from £1650 I think it was to £1000 fairly quickly when it became apparent it wasn't realistic.

    A good point made by Dan there. Start high at what you think it's worth and then come down if you get no interest and keep coming down until you do. It's a sad fact but these cars are worth next to nothing these days. Sad

    from a sale point of view it's a difficult one as the cage is only the back half, plus will make a mess removing it (to return back to standard) or be a lot more work to put the front section in and have it made (for a track car, as ultimately the front half is your important bit!)

    what's it worth? to me - i'd break it. but i'm not after another 306. hope that helps

    Personally I wouldn't pay more than £1000 for that in its current condition.

    I agree with Rikky regarding the welded half-cage. It makes it impractical to put back to standard and expensive to convert into a full cage.

    Sadly it's a bit of a half-way house in its current condition.

    not to critisize too much but any reason for the harness bar when you could have just put harness bars into the rear cross?

    (unless the harness bar was in first Unsure)

    yes, it was i'm afraid, didn't originally want a cage but got carried away with it all and it seems i'm stuck with it now Sad

    small market but next owner will probs be someone who buys her purely just to use it on the track or what not.

    Harness bar could be easily cut out, leaving just the welded on mounting plates as they would be more hassle than it's worth to cut them out. Means re'painting the half cage once the harness bars are welded into the rear cross though.
