WOW! Congrats for the airbox you did! Looks awsome! What is the filter part number? I guess it's K&N brand.

What are those two things on top which keep it in place? Can't really make out of the pic.

thanksSmile took ages to make and couldnt get the airfilter as far forward as wanted but pleased with how its turned out.

the airfilter is k and n and is for a Renault Safrane 3.0 v6 part number 33-2710

the 2 parts on the top and sides are just bent metal brackets.

I dont know a great deal but its got Longmans cams, lots of head work, slightly bigger valves, Omega pistons, Peugeot sport rods and special 40mm bearing crank. All pretty much as it was when it raced, apart from it should have had a 45mm crank, which would have made it easier to get some shell for it!

Is it the core or one of the welded end tanks leaking?

thanks for the offer but due to needing it back Friday I have had to have a local company re-core it, not cheap but the quickest and easiest way to ensure its done in time, no post to worry about.

Seems a bit extreme when its just a cracked weld, but at least it will be %100.

Bugger, I'm in Newcastle when you're at Brands! It'll have to be Snett in October before I can see the car on track

well after all the effort the first race at Snetterton was a disaster!

had a misfire most of qualifying, then it all came back for almost 1 lap and died!

TDC sensor end was knocked off! and coil pack was faulty! replaced both but feared clutch was breaking up but no time before race to do anything so had to risk it!

Race went superb for 3 laps! went from 11th to 5th in that time and was catching the 4 in front but coming out of Murreys there was a bang followed by lots of clutch slip. Coming into Russels it all died again with TDC sensor getting knocked off again!

one unhappy driver

but it went so well for them 3 laps which is what saving it from being for sale on ebay now!

plus found that I was able to drive it at the speed in order to be competitive so just hoping to sort it out for Brans in 3 weeks!

We had the same problem on the uni's Formula Renault at Silverstone a couple of years ago. A part of the clutch flew off and took out the crank sensor. Data showed that the driver had buzzed the engine briefly when it happened and everyone assumed the worst and that there had been piston-valve contact so the engine was stripped down, only to be absolutely fine! 10 minutes of head scratching later and the shafted crank sensor was spotted. LOL
