I've had a magnex system on my car now for 5 years and it's been nothing but trouble it's cracked and blown and been repaired 3 times I'm considering going back to standard any idea how much a genuine back box will cost me new? I'm not worried about the centre section I can get them any where on trade

about £180 IIRC

sounds like your engine mounts are knackered if its cracking all the time, or you are visiting crap welders.

Nothing wrong with the welds on Magnex exhausts. No

The rattling you've got is coming from loose baffles and yes these can be an issue. Yes

If your exhaust is constantly breaking then I agree with Welshpug, your engine mounts must be fubared. Wink

The centre section has been replaced by a straight through because it blew its guts out. The rolled lip on the boxes was blowing ive just bought a standard replacement Hoffman system off ebay 87 quid. Now looking at vibrate technical engine mounts for it too has anyone tried these?

After stripping demon tweeks x show car I don't have a lot to say about the build quality, then again it was over 10 years ago so thinks might be better these days!

True, however they installed the "show" cage and made a right mess of the inner rear arches and main hoop floor plates!! The paint job was shocking up close due to crap prep work!

Back on topic, both my current cars have magnex systems (old better style) on them and never had problems with the welds, I have group n uprated mounts on one car and the other has baker bm lower solid metal mount, solid top engine mount and vibra technics competition gearbox mount so that's probably why mine haven't cracked!

Uprated engine mounts are really the only way to go to avoid all exhaust movement, I too have uprated mounts with Group N ones top and gearbox and a Group A (Solid) one at the bottom and there is no movement in there at all. Smile
