I bought it like that, wasn't my personal choice to paint it, prefer a hot washed finish Wink Whistle

this is the casing I did for the box I have nearly finished rebuilding for my 205...

f**kYEAH, course it'll be a daily driver LOL no point building anything otherwise, unless you've got the cash to go racing or rallying, track cars are just a waste IMO.

Driven 10k miles in my 205 gti this year so far :eek so will be looking to give that a rest and do some work to it, and work to get some bodies on the ZX, seeing as I've got the Jenveys and an ECU ready, just need a manifold with the correct angle and a mapping session, after building a loom.

Track cars are good incase you stack it on a trackday, as you then have your daily driver to use to get to work the following day. Plus you don't have to live with the loudness and harshness of the car on a day to day basis. My opinion on it anyway.

Nice project this Mei. Thumbs up

This car wont be harsh, and also perfectly capable of doing a trackday Wink

If you stack on a trackday, you're just tying too hard tbh.

My red one is standard and will/has done a few trackdays, but i'm a bit competitive so want to be faster all the time so keep throwing more money at the track car.

To me trackdays are a way of pushing as hard as you can/dare legally in a reasonably safe environment. Accidents do sometimes happen so it's better for it to happen at a trackday than driving like a bellend on the public roads imo.

Accidents happen, normally while trying to avoid crashing into some other doofus who has no clue about where the racing line is and all the spaceial awareness of a dyspraxic four year old. Either that or some tosser without a catch tank drops oil all over the entry to the fastest corner turning it into a slip'n'slide straight to the scene of the accident.

MO's will weigh more though how much I couldn't say, they are more of a rally wheel so will be strong, though if they are more recent ones they will be lighter than old ones.

These TH's for example weigh about 8.8 kios, the new casting they are producing is under 7 kilos for some offsets.

Had an email back from compomotive saying that the MO5s (17"Wink are ~9.8kgs, wanted something a bit lighter really Sad

pfft, what's the radius of your brake caliper BTW?

get some smaller brakes, I very much doubt you'll need anything that doesn't fit under at least 16" Razz

Seeing as I need to get it rolling fairly soon, thought I'd get some suspension back on it.

Quite pleased with how these look after 2 years, springs are only cheapo's not the top dollar Eibach's AST use on their competition stuff, but the bodies are pretty much as they were bar one bit where they must have been scratched.

Got my Wishbones off too, one side is all bolted up, having lunch then cracking on with the other side shortly.

Found that the n/s f brake pipe was also a little crusty, so did that whilst fiddling with the suspension on that corner, also got the o/s built up.

Re-taped a few bits on the loom and got it fitted and clipped in to anything available, only the ECU and anything on the inlet to go.

Those struts look a huge amount better than my 18 month old ones that were on the volvo. Not impressed on the build quality on those units I had. Hence the current Bilstein Wink

Car is now at the back of the house with the old shell gone, wasn't a great deal left on it, subframe struts wishbones 2x tailgates passenger door, 15 tin roof sheets a dozen brake discs a few clutches, the old dash + heater box, came to 580 kilos.

The ZX non aircon only used a single speed single fan, but last time I was over at a decent scrappy near Cheltenham there was a TD ZX in there, also single fan but two speed so I got the loom off it, I couldn't take the fan cowling as it had forklift damage LOL Doh but its the same as a 306 twinfan housing which I already have.

Swapped the fan over and fitted the wiring, just need the box and a relay, and a clip for the low speed resistor.

Got the radiator and the cowling in, headlamp/slam panel on.

Bolted the air box on, slowly filling that bay up with clutter!

Stroke of genius, needed to sort a few flares that the £10 heapos**te flaring tool had made a mess of, take one Sykes vice mounted Flaring tool, and a large pair of stilsons.

No more jobs to do with the inlet off, so Bolted that on to get it out of the way in the workshop

then got p**sed off with catching my overalls knees/thighs on the pointy wing ends, so fitted the bumper and lights.

not a lot LOL rat? naaah, just can;t afford a full spray up.

I still have the good wings off the black shell, they are good so will make it onto this at some point, I kept the drivers door as well though that does have a crease at the leading edge, it doesn't have the scrape that the silver door has, all the trim will be going on of course.

I want to make it all one colour, maybe Vinyl Frozen Grey if I can get some cheap enough, looked ace on Adam's Volvo.
