whats an unlocked ecu????Dunno Dunno whats the difference and the benefit ? prob a stupid question to most but im a little new to the management side Unsure

Every ECU is attributed to a specific vehicle. An unlocked one means it can be used on any car.

and there's two kinds, one where it was simply unplugged with the ignition on, which will become locked if used in another vehicle without removing the transponder unit.

or a professionally unlocked ecu which can be used on any 306 regardless.

    back on topic - i 'unlocked' my ecu for my gti6 > 205 swap by just unplugging the ecu with ignition on. hope it's ok, or else i'll MURDER

    It's only if you fit a DIY unlocked to another 306 it will relock it.
