Hi,

Every time I fill my radiator and leave the car idling for a little while, water keeps running out of the overflow hose. I bought a new radiator cap being of the view that it was the source of my problem but when I bled the system and topped it back up and carried the car for a drive, on returning home the tank was empty.

What can be a possible cause of this.

Water is not mixing with oil in rad or on oil dipstick. I never ran it to the point where it was overheated.

Seeing that this may be the source of my problem, what do you advise. carry the head to be tested and fit new gasket?

A compression test will clear things out, if there are low readings on one or more cillinders there is a leak to one of the coolant channels or between cillinders, normal compression is about 210 psi

A compression test as suggested or a 'sniff test' which detects hydrocarbons in the coolant. Wink

Im not totally convinced mine was mixing really either, If it was it wasnt doing it much, But again kaputt. Between the cylinders too interestingly enough (Not normal for a 6 by all accounts).
