my car is a P reg, it has the phase one front bumper, a phase 2/3 "stealth" parcel shelf, and the fatter iIR keyfob from a phase 2. i know peugeot liked to use any old parts on the assembly line.

so im wondering if this is a normal or wether ive had someone in the past modify/tinker with the car.
this seems the more likely option as i bought the car and had to rescue it from lexus lights and the naffest rear spoiler amongst a few other things

break calipers, fooked paint etc etc etc

to set the scene, the cars been sat (angled upwards) on my drive for a while, the remote central locking worked perfectly, even after 3 or 4 completely flat batteries all id have to do is charge it up and everything was grand again.

i moved (under its own steam) the car onto ramps under the front wheels. so its now angled downwards on my drive.

i then central locked/deadlocked it all up. left it for a while, came back to the battery being flat again but this time after charging it the remote part of the central locking didnt work. replacing the battery with a working one didnt make the remote locking work either.

after finally getting in after thinking it'd permanantly locked me out (turned the key that extra undeadlock rusty click) and i got in. the central locking works. just not the remote part now.

also, to my annoyance, the alarm trips itself regardless of keys being in or ignition on/engine on.

the sunroof leaks so i assumed changing the car from facing it upward to facing it downward, meant the leak water has messed up the central locking box under the driver seat.

BUT ITS NOT THERE!!! hence me asking "is it a phase one or a two?" where else should i look, i still think its water damage but im unsure where to look. where are the central locking components located. i know that the IR reciever is in the roof centre console, but is the box i thought was under my seat hidden somewhere else on later models?

sorry bout the longwindedness of this post
any help would be appreciated
james

Have you tried reprogramming the remote fob to the car?

The fact that your main battery was dead has probably killed the backup batteries in the siren hence why it's going off all the time.

Sadly the car is equipped with a mercury tilt switch as used by the IRA. I'd examine it for that before going any further

The siren batteries are sealed within the siren itself - have a search for Siren - plenty info and general consensus is that it is easier to replace with a known working siren.

Programming phase 1/ 2 keys below:

The siren doesn't need to be working in order for the key fob to work with the car. Wink

Also, you should easily be able to tell if your car is a Phase 1 or 2.

Is it a pre-facelift model? (Non-colour coded bumpers, squarer headlights etc.) If so, it's a Phase 1. Do you have an oil PRESSURE gauge on the dash? If so, it's a Phase 1. Wink

its a phase one, (oil pressure gauge) cheers for the help so far

ive just tried all of said methods to reprogram my key fob. none of them are working : S

the fob itself is still working (checked infra red light on it with phone camera) i also tried it with the cover removed from the infra red sensors to make sure the signal/lights is definately getting there.

all ive down is turn the car round on a slight slope. so its gotta be the IRA mercury tilt switch or some body of water has sploshed onto something and fooked it......if you have any other ideas then please let me know

im at a loss here........ i can see no obvious or even minor signs of water damage on the roof center console,

the remote locking box, is it the one under the driver side rear seat where your ass would be. or is definately behind the rear driverside (non-door card) likewise both of these show now signs of moisture/water damage

despite getting screwed on price, if i went and bought new said boxes from mr peugeot parts. is it a case of plug and play or will i have to get them "matched" etc

on i side note with the plug and play question, does that also count for a brand new blank keyfob?

thanks again for the help guys

with the ph1, things are pretty much plug and play with the exception of the ecu and bsi which is located below the hazard light switch (pretty sure ph1s have these?)

under the dash on the p1 you have the airbag ECU and sometimes the keypad immobiliser, nothing else

the cl box is in the rear quarter on the drivers side I believe

Ah ok then. In which case that ecu behind the rear quarter may need to be coded. The immobiliser chip isnt memorised by the ECU. It just receives a yes or no from the bsi.
At least thats how it is on the ph2 and 3 and iirc they share the same ecu dont they?

The keypad has nothing to do with the Alarm in the rear Qtr panel,
The problem is it's IR and not RF, you need a matched pair from new as they cannot be programmed , plus normally water get's into them and corrodes the terminals off in the roof consul part

There was a box located behind the drivers seat under the rear bench related to the central locking on my ph1.
