Just in thought process at the moment. I'm in two minds what to do with the 6 next, I have two choices that I'm currently thinking of.

Either cams and a remap although I'm not sure of which cams to purchase or TD pro race 1.2's. both have advantages. Wheels being less weight so a bit more bhp/tonne of un sprung weight or just more power with cams and remap. I should have about 1k to play with.

Thoughts? Many thanks.

I would sort the brakes and suspension out before looking for more power, thats what I am doing anyway.

Yep on the brakes, but good pads, fluid and braided lines makes alot of difference

Course some good pads will handle 200bhp. Cams and a remap in my eyes is pointless because if you choose to do any moremods you need to remap again so maybe save for some second hand tb's then do it all at once?

It depends what you want from the car really, if your thinking of getting it on track I'd go with lighter wheels and some brake or suspension upgrades. If your wanting to have a better chance against some of these newer hatches in a straight line on a road then go for more power.

People always say brakes and handling first and for the track I'd agree, on the road on the other hand if you are pushing a 6 on the limits of the brakes or the grip around corners then you are already going plenty fast enough for public roads imo so upgrading is not really needed

Cheers guys.

As said the suspension i have is pretty damn good and every suspension component has been replaced in my ownership so I'm happy on that front. The brakes are running better pads and quality discs. She weighs in at 1100kg so it's quicker than a standard 6. Lightened flywheel full AC removal, full stainless with decat and a cotton filter etc etc so i guess now i just want a little bit more from her as we all know you could have 500bhp but we always crave more.

As for the wheels it'll make it lighter again so a bit quicker, with the cams and a remap more power but as a gain pound for pound which is the best option that you guys think would be most beneficial?

For the minimal difference the wheels will make (plus I don't like 1.2's) I'd go for the noticeable cams and remap. Smile

It's not how fast you go. It's how you go fast Wink

The c5 steels/alloys are about the lightest wheel you could fit, if I'm correct

Unless your going the whole hog and stripping it I can't imagine that lighter wheels will make any noticeable difference. Better off with more poke and sticky tires I reckon.

I've stripped literally everything i can whilst retaining the seats for my little man. I think cams it is then I like clones but i do like TD 1.2's Yes

Changing wheels was just an idea i should have about 1k to waste. I imagine that'd cover cams remap and labour.

Not entirely. The back seats weigh F all. And it's still weighing 1100kg Yes

PT81's or the equivalent Cat Cams will give you around the 190bhp figure, maybe slightly more. If it was a choice out of the two I would go for cams over wheels. Yes

They do, but plenty of people have fitted them. Yes

Head thickness is a consideration, and as has been stated you can buy a thicker gasket to compensate for this.
If you're worried about the running clearances then go for Cat Cams, these seem to be the most popular option out there at the moment. Smile

It's not something I'm going to rush into but pt81's would be ideal. As far as I'm aware my car has never had a head skim. As you say Stan for peace of mind a thicker head gasket would probably be the safest option.

I'd love to charge the bloody thing and be done with it but my budget will not stretch that far No

The supercharger conversion is the best pound for pound power mod out there at the moment for the gain that you receive. The only problem is that it has a large outlay at the beginning. Yes
