Hi guys,

Hopefully somebody can answer a question for me, I'll try and explain my problem as simply as possible!

I had a problem with the fan system on my 306 GTi-6 a week or so ago, which was diagnosed as a faulty fan ECU (or something like that) which is found under one of the wings.

Anyway, took it to a local specialist, and they did away with the ECU and fitted a whole new fan system which works spot on! However... the switch they have used turns the fans on at 87 degrees, whereas the standard brown switch (for air con models) brings the fans on at 97 degrees.

This is a pain in the ass since the fans come on whilst I am driving, and normally don't go back off, since the switch I currently have installed doesn't turn off until it has gone down to 82 degrees. If it does go down to 82, then it doesn't take too long when idling to get back up to 87 and the fans kick in again. Really annoying as you can imagine, more so because they make a squeaky noise and everybody looks at my car thinking something is wrong with it!

However, because of the new fan system that has been installed, they have done away with the plug that would normally connect to the brown sensor. Instead of the plug, I just have two crimps that go onto two spade terminals on the new sensor.

So, the sensor I currently have on my car looks similar to this with just the two terminals...

But the standard sensor looks like this (a plug would normally go to it)...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meat-Doria-Engine-Management-Temp-Sensor-82131-/150874951391?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A306&hash=item2320d90edf

So, I have been trying to look for a sensor that looks like the first one with just two terminals, but with the same temp range as the standard brown one (fans on at 97 and off at 92).

I looked on Euro Car Parts to see what the thread size is of the standard brown plug, which come out at M22 x 1.5 and used this to try and find a sensor that was M22 x 1.5, had two terminals, and had temp rating of 97 degrees.

I found one! Which normally fits a Citroen AX or Peugeot 205, so I went ahead and bought it! (The one in the link below)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130735323243?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Arrived today, and went to fit it, only to find that the thread is too big! I was fuming! I looked at Euro Car Parts website again, and failed to notice that M22 x 1.5 is for cars without air conditioning!

So, I have had another look tonight and found that the thread size of the standard brown plug is M14 x 1.25

Therefore, I have finally come to the conclusion that I need the following:
- Sensor with just two terminals (no plug connection)
- Temp rating of 97 degrees
- Thread size of M14 x 1.25

I can't find anything for that spec anywhere!

So, my question is, could I just connect the two crimps I have onto the two terminals on the inside of the standard brown sensor? If so, then I could just buy a replacement OEM brown sensor and bobs your uncle!

If not, then does anybody know of a sensor with the above required specs? It would be so much easier if I still had the standard plug, because I could then just buy a replacement OEM sensor and be done with it!

I hope this hasn't been too confusing and that people can understand what I am trying to explain!

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

Cheers

Cheers, that is what I wanted to here! I'm sure I didn't need to ramble on like I did and could have just cut straight to the point!

Just a little worried that the pins are too close together on the brown sensor, but I'll get one and we'll see what happens!
