sold my 205 gti6 to him about a month or 2 ago and so far i havent recieved a letter from the dvla saying its changed hands

this week i recieved a letter for the tax to be renewed or sorned, since i aint the owner anymore i am not sure whether to just sorn it or find who he has sold the car to(hopefully a member on here) so we can sort what to do from here

thanx

He's packed up and gone travelling already I think.

If it was nearer the month ago mark I wouldn't worry too much. I sent one off a few weeks ago now and haven't heard back. If your concerned, bell the DVLA and ask to check the status on it. All you want to know is that the car is no longer your responsibility. They can tell you that, but emphasise that you don't want to know who the new owner is, merely that it's been changed.

The first thing they will say is that the tax reminders are produced and posted weeks beforehand automatically.

Yeah he was s**t at sending me my stuff too, it eventually turned up but he hasn't actually checked that yet, looks like he's a bit useless and selling stuff.

My money's on him now having sent it off yet Thumbs up

But alas no, other than his name I don't have any details.

it does sometimes take 5-6 weeks and even longer sometimes to get it back. just ring DVLA and get them to check, when you phone just keep pressing 8 on the phone so you get through to a human immediately

    I'll own up.

I bought of Andy about 3 weeks ago. He never sent the change of owner slip to the DVLA from when he pruchased it from you, but asked me too. I forgot, but will post it tonight. I'll ring the DVLA in a week to check they've recieved it.

If I were you Alex I'd pop on the DVLA website and fire off a SORN right away. Any SORN's become irrelevant when an owner changes, so the new owner would need to submit a new one anyway.

At least you have done your bit then.

When I bought my 205 I SORN'd it as soon as I got the V5 through. It popped up saying that the car had been unlicenced since several months before and either I or the previous owner would potentially receive a fine. I am unaware if the bloke ever did - but his fault if so as he just let the tax run out months before.

I'm either gonna tax it or SORN it.

I'm gonna send slip off to DVLA today and then ring up in a weeks time to check they have recieved it and ask what to do about SORNing/taxing it.

I get the impression Alex gave the full V5 over rather than keeping it to send himself.

yes it's the owners responsibility to tell the DVLA about any change's, Even if you do not get a letter thou stating change of ownership you need to call them or they will have you for it

i was going to send it off, but the chap i sold the car to was buying it for someone else and that they hadnt decided whos name would be on the log book so since he is a frequent poster on here i didnt suspect any foul play

all good in the end tho, its sorned and the new owner is very aware of the situation
