Had to tweak mine due to fitting a Compbrake quickshift,so the info might come in handy for someone in the futureThumbs up

Can only be done with aftermarket/Miles gear rods thoughSmile

If you are struggling to get 2nd/4th/6th/reverse you need to shorten the large gear rod,if your struggling to get 1st/3rd/5th the large gear rod needs to be lengthenedThumbs up

When you remove your existing ones, lay them next to the new ones and ajust to match.

out of interest... can anything be gained from adjusting the other two shorter linkages?

Without any knowledge.. (i just stuck mine on at standard length) i would guess one would allow you to adjust the throw of the stick, and the other the resting position of the stick.

Anybody tried messing about with them at all?

No they wont affect the throw whatsoever, you need to alter the leverage ratios to do that

So maybe they both just alter the resting position of the stick then, seeing as I like where it already is there is not much point fiddling... just wondered really

Nice one Kev il lengthen mine n see if it sorts it. I did match mine with the old one, it doesnt always work due to many other tolerances down to having taking car parts all off etc.

This thread should be a FAQ.

    +1

I did mine one turn n it is better, lower gears are just as was, think I still need another turn as its getting stiff after a much longer drive.

Try adjusting the gear rods that attach to the selector arms on the gearbox as well as the one underneath. If these are too long or too short you can find the L bracket rotates around it's axis such that its leverage is reduced which would make the gearstick feel heavier and notchy. I don't have adjustable rods on my '6, but on my 309 and 205 I set up the "feel" of the gear shift using the smaller 2 and adjusted the position of the stick a little forwards as to my liking using the long rod underneath the car.
