ok here we go! ive been looking on the net a lot and ive found a few tuners who do a remap for the gti6 called macre 163,
it claims to take the standard gti6 up to 183 bhp from 163bhp, now i know they are 167bhp before anynone tries to correct me! does anyone have any experiance with these remaps?

Everything I've ever read about re-mapping these engines contradicts the above.

As far as I'm aware a remap is not needed/a waste unless you put cams in or throttle bodies / charger.

Patience, it hasn't been long..... someone who knows what they're talking about will come along soon and explain why it's a waste of money.

well if you have an independent RR nearby you can use and can guarantee the 183 figure or your money back, go for it....

Sounds like a waste of time & fuel to me, but could be worth a laugh seeing someone else go through the ordeal Yes

That remap alone will not give you the figures quoted. No

You will need cams to get that kind of increase along with the remap. Yes
To get up to 200bhp+ you are looking at throttle bodies AND cams.

That is all.

'6 marce' means 6 speed in Spanish.

So, what you think is the name of a remap is in fact just the name of the car. The 163 comes from converting kW to CV/PS, which is the metric equivalent of BHP. The GTi-6 was sold on the contient as 120 kW, which converts to 163 PS.
