After a trip to Le Mans, Ive come back with a cracked windscreen on the hdi.

After the cheapest place that do them with the rain sensor.

So far have £95+VAT without, £155+VAT with. Not sure whats involved to swap from the sensor to the standard intermitent if I was to go with a standard screen.

Any info much appreciated.

By with the rain sensor, they mean with the fittings for the sensor.

You will have to transfer your sensor anyway (well the fitter will).

Where are you based?

It just slides off. Can't remember if it slides up or down. Just don't do what I did and pull it off!

I noticed on a renewal quote I got through the post that chip repairs are subject to a £20 excess charge with Admiral now. I can only image because every man and his dog started repairing screens in supermarket car parks that the insurance companies are starting to pass the costs on.

This was with Admiral that I noticed this. Anyone noticed anything similar with other companies?

    £95 + VAT isn't too bad a price.

I guess you've tried yellow pages and google. Try playing companies off against each other.

A company called YPM windscreens did mine for £100 fitted, but they only seem to cover Yorkshire.

I think when mine ever cracks I'll treat myself to a heated one, quite pricey but über useful. My dad replaced his through insurance, it cost him £50 excess on a brand new mondeo. I can imagine them being alot on there own being heated and that. £100 seems reasonable, just rip the sensor out?

How much are these heated ones? Can the rain sensor be fitted back on to one?

Its down and i did the same yesterday as one side of the sensor had come away from the glass!

tried up and down and then pulled it which worked only the metal clip that was fixed to the glass pulled off with a chunk of glass attached to it!

Hopefully just a glass repair will sort it!

Get your local windscreen place to glue it on. Mine lasted for ages until the screen cracked in an unrelated place.

What causes the sensor to go abit mad? My Diablo is really intermittent, it works fine on all the settings except the rain sensor setting which works but seems like the wiper gets stuck to things on the way up and down but it's not getting stuck on anything. That probably makes no sense butaybe someone had this problem before?
