I'm about to replace the Mintex M1144 pads in my Xsara VTS, and I would like to go Carbotech next time.

As far as I remember somebody mentioned here that Renault Clio 172 or 182 front pads may also fit in the standard GTI6/VTS caliper. Am I right?

What compound would you suggest from Carbotech, if the sides of the M1144s pads fragmanted, and yesterday the pad mateiral worned down within 20 laps on the Hungaroring. So they had been overheated. The car is not a daily driver, but I have to drive 200km to get to the closest race track, so it would have to perform good during normal road use!

Yep Clio 172/182 front pads fit the GTi-6 calipers, the pads are normally a lot cheaper too!

I have some CL RC6 for sale if you wanted to try them instead Whistle

I'd need to look into prices for sending them to Hungary but I would guess around £115 including delivery.

XP8's or XP10's would both do fine in that situation tbh.

Received the following quote from Carbotech:

" Yes we don't have this shape of backplate to make pads from fresh stock, so no matter which car they are for i will need old (or new pads) to strip and reline with our materials sorry.

I can get cheap new pads to use but my supplier want 20+vat for them which is to add to reline cost, price to reline these in XP8 is then 160+vat & delivery, so including buying new pads its 180+vat & delivery

Shipping to Hungary would be 28+vat

Price for pads and shipping is 208+vat @ 20% come to final price to you of 249.60, but call it 240 for you.
Let me know if this is any good for you."

Crazy

Yeah, it's not cheap, price from US has gone through roof.

As far as I remember the front and rear brake pads set for my STI were cheaper than that quote above!
