dont forget to take the ram and pipes off.

i thought the ram restricted the steering lock to stop wheel to gearbox contact?Dunno

it does, but if you remove the PAS you need to remove the ram.

so if you remove pas you will have to put up with wheel to gearbox contact?

why can't the ram just be left in place?

you have tried to steer a PAS car with the engine off haven't you? go and try it if you haven't....

you'll need to make some lock stops of some sort.

Surely the resistance is created mainly by the fluid though?

I thought the reason for removing the Ram would be more to do with it'll seize up over time if left with no fluid as I thought that lubricates it.

I am removing PAS to save weight and also because if i remove a/c and leave pas then i will need a rallye set up which is £150 but if i do away with pas too then i only need tension on the alternator.

Ah right,be interested to know how it feels without PAS when your doneThumbs up

I've got a VTS rack to fit, that I was promised was a Ph1Roll eyes but low and behold it turns up and its Ph2Angry
So I might consider junking the PAS alltogether rather than mess about fitting different pipesWink

nowt wrong with a PH2 xsara rack, still around a full turn less than a 306 rack.

note you will fail and MOT if you lave the ram in place, usually with wording along the lines of "parts missing from PAS system, PAS system inoperative/faulty"
