Im looking for a car to strip and rag lol. Ive been looking at 106 gti's saxo vts 205 and obviously the gti6. Apart from the 6 witch i know a fair amount about, does anyone have any info what these other cars are like striped and with other small mods?

the 106 and saxo engines, adapt well to breathing mods, ive read previously that they can gain a good 10-15bhp sometimes with just a good air intake and exhaust. and obviously with being a light enough car as it is, stripping it out will make a big difference too.

Go for a 106 xsi, light to start with, simple to work on, loads of parts around, look good too = win win win IMO

Probably better off with a 106 gti as the xsi's are getting rare. You can pick up a gti for next to nothing now.

205 is the best hatch going imo. tuneable. it handles so well. my 205 was stripped and ate all of the above n then i turboed it which made every thing a bit more interesting. the 106 and saxo are ok but i think are boring. i have had all four cars as mentioned above but the 205 is just better even than the 6.

throttle bodied 306 gti6 would come close, bodied 205 gti6 would make it looks quite silly.

Yeah, no denying they are pretty quick, but i dont think they are as quick as a lot of people make them out to be. Might just be that my car seems to pull fairly well for a std engine.

Depends how you want to do it. If you want to do it 'properly' with correct hoses, a re angled manifold and not beating the bulkhead in etc then it's going to soon mount up.

I'd budget a grand including the engine. I have a tally somewhere. People will jump in and say £500 easy, but a decent clutch, new gaskets, cambelt for piece of mind, solid mounts etc etc it soon adds up.

Or you could do the Sunday afternoon special an just chuck it straight in with copper joints and bodged hoses and a lump hammer to the bulkhead.

Buying one done is obviously the cheapest way to do it. But for me, doing the conversion was where the enjoyment came from - I hardly drive the f**king thing LOL

I thought the wiring was the hardest bit until i got a loom made lol. reangling the manifold is easy enough if u can weld. but a grand is realistic. but u pick up a 205 cheap enough and if your just gonna rag it., then a 500 pound s**tter will do just dandy

However a 309 is something to consider as there has always been the opinion that the 309 is better than the 205.

Get the 205, parts are plentyful and cheap
Then drop a 6 engine in it with a 1.6 box Big grin

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fecking temperamental.

RE the 309, finding a solid one isn't going to be easy.

If going for a 205, getting a 1.9 allows you to put gti6 brakes straight on whereas a 1.6 will need different hubs either from a base model or a 1.9.

If I didn't have the rallye, I'd have a 205 at the drop of a hat

Would fit 309 running gear though Wink
