2Q
just to confirm torque settings are

slacken
slacken individually
then 160 degrees - (instead of this is there a final torque setting)

1 - You have aftermarket head bolts there, you should have washers on them, so you will need to get some new bolts and washers for when you refit the head.

2 - The torques are officially 35nm, 70nm, 180 degrees...

There is no slackening involved. However, I usually only do them around 160 degrees on the final part. Smile

T55 torx headed bolts are standard pug on earlier engines, there will be washers still in the head not captive on the bolts, later types are a Socket type with captive washers.

I didn't realise the earlier Pugs had these as standard...

That's strange, nearly every '6' I've done a HG on or fixed a tapper in the past has had the socket types...right down to R reg.

That's why I assumed this was the standard fitment. Yes

Yeah, its strange. I always prefer the socket type as I think there is less chance of rounding them off if they are really tight. Yes

I've never had a head round off with the Torx ones, just to my mind its something else that could happen that needn't have.
